Position Purpose:

The Staff Accountant will be in our NSC Office location and will participate in the month-end accounting close cycle. The Staff Accountant will be responsible for posting and reconciling specific general ledger accounts including but not limited to: cash, prepaids, accruals and insurance reserves. The Staff Accountant will need to apply an analytical mindsight to compare actual results to the budget and prior year. The candidate should seek out areas for process and control improvements within the general accounting function.

Essential Job Functions:

The incumbent must be able to perform all of the following duties and responsibilities with or without a reasonable accommodation.

• Interact professionally and effectively through verbal and written communication with contacts in various areas of the business with an emphasis on company interests and compliance with accounting standards

• Efficiently create accounting documents, reports and reconciliations using spreadsheet, database, and accounting software in a timely fashion

• Independently prioritize and accomplish multiple tasks within established timeframes

• Analyze simple to moderately complex data to determine the appropriate course of action

• Perform accounting duties and control activities to ensure financial results are reported accurately and timely

• Research and analyze selective data sets and/or accounts pertaining to the duties of the specific functional area of accounting being performed

• Prepare month-end journal entries, reconciliations, budgets, forms, reports, and schedules relating to the accounts in the specific area of focus

• Effectively communicate with field partners, corporate support staff, and senior management, ensuring accounting issues are communicated to the appropriate impacted partners for action

• Analyze problems, research the root causes, and overcome roadblocks to functional success

Supervisory Responsibility:

This position will not directly or indirectly supervise or manage any partners or manage/lead cross-functional work groups.

Work Environment:

The majority of job duties are conducted indoors in a quiet standard office environment, with little or no exposure to hazards. Work involves the frequent use of general office equipment such as calculator, keyboard, copier, and telephone. This position will not require extended travel. Sporadic travel for training purposes may be required.

Experience and Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance or related is required plus 2 years experience at the level of junior or staff accountant; will also consider related undergraduate internship experience

• Knowledge of the fundamentals associated with different functional areas of accounting

• Experience with cash reconciliations and journal entries

• Intermediate to advanced knowledge of most Microsoft Office Suite applications

• Working experience with Oracle Cloud Financials software is a plus

• Strong interpersonal communication skills; ability to convey accounting concepts to non-accounting associates

• Strong analytical skill-set and mathematical aptitude

• Public accounting experience a plus
