Peoria Park District is Hiring a Naturalist/Program Coordinator Near Peoria, IL

Are you interested in being the Naturalist/Program Coordinator for the Peoria Park District? Apply online today. Salary range: $39,000 - $42,000

  • Coordinate Nature Center programs, special events, and programming staff.
  • Develop and conduct programs at Forest Park, Sommer Farm, Tawny Oaks, Camp Wokanda, and in the local school systems.
  • Coordinate the Nature Center's membership program, including database management, membership relations, and special events.
  • Conduct trainings, reviews, and assessments of interpretive staff throughout the Park District.
  • Conduct nature tours for all ages.
  • Design and prepare exhibits.
  • Prepare and submit program reports on attendance and recommendations.
  • Follow time schedules and be responsible for flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Coordinate newsletter publication. Contribute to other publications and social media.
  • Inspect Forest Park Preserve regularly.
  • Keep up-to-date on current trends in environmental education and interpretation.
  • Respond to phone inquiries concerning problem-solving and information regarding local flora and fauna.
  • Recruit, organize, and train volunteers, docents, and part-time employees.
  • Assist with daily operations of the Nature Center, including routine maintenance and retail.
  • Follow all safety procedures that pertain to the duties performed.
  • Support all aspects of the Peoria Park District's safety program.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned
