Peninsula Healthcare Connection is looking for a part time Controller (15-20 hours weekly, $50-55hourly) to oversee and manage PHC’s financial operations. Position can work hybrid from home but proximity to Bay Area is critical to able to come into PHC's offices in San Jose. PHC is a nonprofit focusing on the health care and social services for the unhoused or at risk of being unhoused population of Santa Clara County.What We Offer:

SOME OF THE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Oversee PHC's accounting, budgeting, and programmatic financial functions, ensuring compliance and efficiency.
· Play a pivotal role in formulating and implementing fiscal policies, procedures, and goals that enhance the organization's financial management and payroll systems.
· Guarantee the precision and timeliness of monthly financial closures, as well as fiscal and grant year-end closings, maintaining financial integrity.
· Ensure prompt and accurate dissemination of all financial data monthly.
· Oversee and direct the management of financial transactions, including invoicing, reporting, accounts receivable, accounts payable, cash handling, and general ledger maintenance.
· Prepare presentation for the Board of Directors meetings through meaningful financial insights.
· Conduct thorough analyses of financial data to inform and bolster strategic planning efforts.
· Meticulously review budgets, ensuring their accuracy and clarity, and provide ongoing financial guidance to department managers for effective budget management.
· Collaborate proactively with all stakeholders to facilitate a smooth and comprehensive year-end audit.
· Serve as the primary point of contact for all financial monitoring, reviews, and audits, ensuring transparency and accountability.
· Lead educational initiatives for staff and senior management, enhancing their understanding and competency in fiscal processes.
· Monitor and forecast cash flow to safeguard financial stability and inform strategic decisions.
· Embrace additional responsibilities as needed to fulfill departmental and organizational financial goals and objectives.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
B.S. degree in Accounting or Finance
CPA a plus
Four or more years accounting experience. Minimum of two years’ recent experience in a non-profit agency.
Must have thorough knowledge and experience implementing GAAP and strong internal controls; knowledge of non-profit government funded accounting and Uniform Administrative Requirements, Cost Principles and Audit Requirements for Federal Awards.
Experience with accounting software programs and expert level of Excel is required. Knowledge of Financial edge accounting systems, a plus.
Excellent analytical ability and process development skills.
Must have strong multi-tasking and organizational skills. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Communicate effectively with all levels of management and Funders.
Experience working with ethnically diverse groups and commitment to principles of social justice.
