Summary:

Responsible for design and development of electronic circuitry for lighting products. Projects may involve conceptualization, research, design, development of prototypes, testing, and evaluation for new or existing products in a cross-functional team environment. Keep up to date with advances in technology and propose new ideas and technologies for adaptation into Pelican’s new and existing products. Ensure Pelican’s products are innovative, competitive and best-in-class..

What you’ll do

• Responsible for design and analysis of electronic circuitry, (analog and digital), utilizing a wide array of components including power management IC's, power MOSFET's, micro controllers and passive components.
• Develop appropriate test methods and analyze and resolve quality issues
• Recommend procedures that will result in cost savings, maximization of production, and quality improvement.
• May supervise other engineers and technicians.
• Monitor developments within related fields of technology to ensure that Pelican’s products are innovative and competitive.
• Actively support Pelican’s commitment to Quality and Safety, and all quality and safety objectives, with an emphasis on continual improvement.
• Performs additional duties and projects as assigned by the Director of Product Development & Engineering
• Follows company policies and practices as outlined in the Employee Handbook and/or applicable employment agreement. Follows safety guidelines and procedures in accordance to the job.
• Performs additional duties as assigned.

  What you’ll need:

• B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering or related field, with 10 or more years on-the-job experience, preferably in a consumer electronics environment.
• a minimum of 7 design and project management
• Significant background and understanding of electronic circuitry design and development - from concept through manufacture
• Hands-on experience in implementing test procedures for electronic circuity, (hardware/firmware), based on product specifications and requirements
• Must be able to demonstrate creativity and ingenuity in applying engineering principles and practices
• Experience in analog electronic design
• Experience in PCB and electronic design using Altium or similar software
• Experience in developing firmware using C or C preferred
• Experiences in designing products for hazardous locations according to UL913, IEC60079-0, & IEC60079-11Must have experience in designing high volume and high quality electronic products
• Excellent written, presentation and verbal communication skills
• Must be proficient with Word, Excel, MS Project and/or other appropriate software or project management tools.
• Experience in developing firmware using C or C
• Must be able to travel as needed to meet with vendors to discuss technical issues. Passport will be necessary as job may require some overseas travel.
