Pearle Vision is Hiring an Optician Near San Diego, CA

We are seeking opticians to work in a fun, fast paced environment at our Pearle Vision locations in Point Loma and La Jolla! The selected individuals will receive competitive salary and opportunities for career development and advancement.

Responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to the following:

  • Perform patient pre-testing using optometric equipment.
  • Assist patient in the selection of frames.
  • Explain lens material and design, AR Coating benefits, etc.
  • Recommend specific lenses, lens coatings, and frames to suit patient needs.
  • Take eye and facial measurements.
  • Prepare work orders for the optical lab.
  • Verify that finished lenses are ground to specifications.
  • Dispense, adjust and perform minor repairs on glasses.
  • Submit patient insurance information and perform simple bookkeeping.
  • Provide contact lens insertion and removal instructions to patient when required.
  • Assist the team in maintaining the store's visual objectives and housekeeping standards.
  • Answer phones and schedule appointments.
  • Develop and train new staff as required.

For this role, you must have the following qualifications:

  • A good understanding of lens materials, coatings and lens options.
  • Work experience as an optician, dispensing contact lenses and glasses.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Availability to work a flexible schedule and the hours necessary to open and/or close the store.
  • Professional appearance and demeanor; ability to demonstrate a high degree of professionalism.
  • ABO Certification preferred.
  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent.
