Job Profile Summary

Optician for ordering glasses and frames, overseeing quality control, and adjusting and repairing frames for patients in a caring and professional manner. Expertise in bifocal and progressive lenses, as well as high-index lenses.

General Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Optician with a strong background in the glasses and ophthalmic lenses field. The successful candidate will be responsible for a wide range of tasks including ordering glasses and frames, overseeing quality control, and adjusting and repairing frames. Expertise in bifocal and progressive lenses, as well as high-index lenses, is essential. The ideal candidate will bring a mix of technical knowledge, customer service skills, and a detail-oriented mindset to our team.

Responsibilities:

  • Assists patients in selecting and ordering eyeglasses.
  • Educate patients in their corrective lens options and adaptation.
  • Operate lensometer and other tools to achieve proper fittings for patients.
  • Dispense and adjust eyeglasses.
  • Troubleshoot any issues with eyewear and communicate with provider any questions or concerns about prescriptions.
  • Order new style frames for our stock, tag them and add to inventory.
  • Checking quality control once the glasses arrive from the lab.
  • Place glasses prescription orders and send them to the lab.
  • Package and get ready all the orders for delivery.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Additional duties:
  • Occasionally and when required to help the ophthalmic technicians interview patients and document ocular and medical histories. Perform a pre-testing using ophthalmic instruments to provide basic clinical information (Visual Acuity, Autorefractor, NCT, OCT, retina camera, Humphrey Visual field).

Requirements:

  • At least 2 years of experience as an optician required.
  • Graduation from a course for Optician
  • High School diploma or GED Equivalent
  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the skills, knowledge, and ability to perform the essential job duties and which meets any required state or federal certification requirements.
  • Current American Heart Association healthcare provider CPR (BLS) or Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Advanced Trauma Life Support, or Advance Resuscitation Training required.

If you are hired at Family Health Centers of San Diego, your final base salary compensation will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, jurisdictional requirements, skills, education, and/or experience. In addition to these factors - we believe in the importance of pay equity and consider internal equity of our current team members as a part of any final offer. Please keep in mind that the range mentioned above is what we reasonably expect to pay for the role. Hiring at the maximum of the range would not be typical in order to allow for future and continued salary growth.
