REPORTS TO: Director of Housekeeping, Assistant Director of Housekeeping, Housekeeping Manager.

SUPERVISES: Room Attendants, Housepersons.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Guest rooms, guest and service corridors, stairwells, service areas, linen closets, Housekeeping office. Job involves working:

• under variable temperature conditions.
• under variable noise levels.
• indoors.
• around fumes and/or odor hazards.
• around dust and/or mite hazards.
• around chemicals.
• around bio-hazards.

KEY RELATIONSHIPS:

Internal: Staff in Housekeeping, Laundry/Dry Cleaning, Uniform Room, Engineering, Front Desk, Security, Warehouse, Room Service and Banquet Set-up.

External: Hotel guests/visitors/vendors/service companies.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

1. Maintain complete knowledge of and comply with all departmental policies, service procedures and standards.
2. Maintain complete knowledge of correct maintenance and use of equipment. Use equipment only as intended.
3. Anticipate guests’ needs, respond promptly and acknowledge all guests.
4. Maintain positive guest relations at all times.
5. Resolve guest complaints, ensuring guest satisfaction.
6. Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation and organization of assigned work areas.
7. Verify room status on AM report; report discrepant rooms; prioritize and update status of check-out rooms.
8. Prepare and distribute special assignment sheets to assigned staff and review priorities.
9. Communicate additions or changes to the assignment sheets as they arise throughout the shift.
10. Update room status after approving cleanliness and condition in accordance with departmental standards.
11. Check vacant rooms, verify status and update status of discrepant rooms throughout the shift.
12. Check DND rooms and verify status.
13. “Mark” dirty sheets of randomly selected assigned rooms and follow up to ensure Room Attendants have changed bed sheets. Counsel Room Attendants on any discrepancies.
14. Complete work orders for maintenance repairs and submit to Engineering. Contact Engineering directly for urgent repairs.
15. Conduct training of staff as assigned.
16. Provide feedback on staff performance to manager. Report disciplinary problems to manager and participate in the counseling of employees.
17. Document pertinent information in department log book.
18. Complete all paperwork and closing duties before leaving. Review status of assignments and any follow-up action with manager and/or on-coming supervisor.
19. Check PM reports for accuracy and completeness. Complete night counts in accordance with departmental standards.

SECONDARY JOB FUNCTIONS 

1. Assist in other areas of Housekeeping as assigned.
2. Attend designated meetings.
