Job Summary

The Housekeeping Supervisor is responsible for supervising all facets of the Housekeeping Department ensuring high levels of guest service and satisfaction. Includes rooms, laundry, public areas, work areas, and department storage.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provides professional and courteous guest service at all times
  • Enforces policies and procedures
  • Ensures quality services and enhanced guest relations when meeting guests needs
  • Maintains room quality based on hotel standards
  • Monitors and maintains level of cleanliness throughout the hotel
  • Maintains productivity and labor cost goals
  • Checks all vacant and clean rooms, public space, storage areas, and housekeeping carts daily
  • Inspects all rooms cleaned by new associates daily
  • Supervises housekeeping and laundry staff
  • Manages housekeeping associate’s performance, annual evaluations, training, and development
  • Provides professional and courteous guest service at all times
  • Conducts monthly inventory

Additional Duties

  • Prepares daily assignment sheets for housekeeping associates
  • Stays within budgeted guidelines provided by General Manager
  • Compiles and reports accurate status of guestrooms to front office
  • Enforces standard procedures for the acceptance, security, and return of guest lost and found items
  • Maintains department key control
  • Maintains deep cleaning program
  • Acts as Manager On Duty when scheduled
  • Actively seeks out other tasks when current work is complete
  • Participates in ongoing education and training of Franchise and Hotel Management Company

Effectively and promptly deals with team performance issues. Adapts positively to changing situations. Handles criticism well, admits mistakes and makes corrections quickly and willingly.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Education or Experience- High school diploma or GED equivalent; or one to two years of related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Language Skills- Must have developed language skills to the point to be able to: read, analyze, and interpret business documents such as government regulations, safety rules, and procedure manuals. Ability to write reports business correspondence and procedure manuals. Ability to speak professionally and effectively, present information, and respond to questions from management, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Mathematical Skills- Requires mathematical development sufficient to be able to: add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units or measure, using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute ratio, rate, and percent. Possesses sharp ability for attention to detail (able to quickly identify variances in standards), working efficiently, and flexibly. Ability to multi-task and be highly organized
  • Reasoning Ability- Must have developed reasoning skills to be able to: solve practical problems and deal with variety of situations where limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to pass physical exam, drug test, and background check
  • Requires walking and standing to a significant degree, reaching, climbing (ladder), balancing, kneeling, crouching, stooping, handling, talking, hearing, smelling, and seeing
  • Lifting up to 25 lbs. maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying or transporting of objects weighing up to 10 lbs.
  • Inside environmental conditions protected from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes. Potential exposure to paint, solvents, cleaning chemicals, and/or fumes
