PCC Community Markets is Hiring a Senior Instructional Designer (including Facilitation) Near Seattle, WA

Overview

As a mission-oriented grocer with a focus on education, PCC Community Markets is looking for a Senior Instructional Designer with strong facilitation experience to work on advancing our educational initiatives. Experienced Instructional Designers and Educators are welcome to apply.

The Senior Instructional Designer is instrumental in contributing to PCC Community Markets’ organizational training strategy, oversees its implementation, writes curriculum, and delivers/facilitates training, and assesses the outcomes. They are responsible for ensuring needs analysis is completed, curriculum and courses are created and delivered in line with the needs of the business, continually assessing and pivoting plans as the business needs change. This position is responsible for creating a robust career development plan for all staff.

Main Job Responsibilities

  • Build partnerships with Store Operations, Human Resources, Merchandising, and Store Leadership teams to define and prioritize training needs.
  • Identifies and assesses current and future training needs through job analysis, career paths, evaluation, and in consultation with managers, key staff, leadership, and outside expertise.
  • Develop and implement programs that address company and employee needs and expectations while monitoring and evaluating training programs’ effectiveness, success, and ROI.
  • Creates and/or identifies training programs for managers, supervisors, and others involved in employee development.
  • Utilizes the Bridge Learning Management System to ensure that staff have the tools and information they need to perform their jobs and develop their careers.
  • Develops curricula and education support materials for training and reference.
  • Maintains a thorough understanding of training trends, developments, and best practices.
  • Facilitates training and train the trainer programs.
  • Works effectively as a team member within HR and throughout the company.
  • This position works consistently at a light physical work level and may be asked to work on occasion at a medium or heavy physical work level when supporting stores or other offsite events. Frequently required to sit, walk, reach, and grasp. Occasionally required to be on feet with a mix of standing and walking throughout shift.
  • Performs other tasks and duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Skills

REQUIRED:

  • 7-10 years of experience as an instructional designer
  • Demonstrated ability to design, implement, and facilitate successful training programs.
  • 7 years of experience facilitating training sessions and developing training materials.
  • Demonstrated familiarity with traditional and modern training methods such as mentoring, coaching, on-the-job and classroom training, e-learning, workshops, and simulations.
  • Knowledge of adult instructional and learning theory and principles.
  • Ability to plan, multi-task, think creatively and manage time effectively.
  • Excellent professional verbal communication, written communication, and listening skills.
  • Computer skills (MS Office, Access, Excel, Word, graphics, etc.) and strong writing ability are essential.
  • Demonstrated project management skills, collaboration and prioritization skills
  • Strong attention to detail for ensuring communications/materials are equitable, diverse, and inclusive
  • Handles confidential information using discretion and judgment
  • Available to work some evenings and weekends.
  • Ability to travel to all PCC locations.
  • Familiarity with the retail grocery industry.

PREFERRED:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in business, training and development, human resources, or related field.
  • Prior experience with Bridge LMS and Articulate authoring software.
  • Experience working for a grocer or retailer, preferably in a lead or management role.
  • Business knowledge of the retail grocery industry.
  • Background in diversity, equity, and inclusion with knowledge of student access needs
