POSITION DESCRIPTION
Title: Human Resources Benefits Coordinator -Entry Level
Reports to: Manager/Director, Human Resources
Summary: The entry level human resource benefits coordinator provides assistance with and facilitates the human resource processes at all business locations. This role assists in the administration of employee health and welfare plans and acts as liaison between employees and insurance providers. This position resolves benefits-related problems and ensures effective use of plans and positive employee relations. The human resource benefits coordinator assists to ensure that certain plans are administered in accordance with federal and state regulations and that plan provisions are followed. This role provides administrative support to the human resource function as needed, including record-keeping, file maintenance and HRIS entry.
Major Duties:
· Assisting in the administers health and welfare plans, including enrollments, changes and terminations. Processes required documents through payroll and benefit platforms and/or insurance providers to ensure accurate record-keeping and proper deductions.
· Reviews/monitors COBRA process.
· Performs customer service functions by answering employee requests and questions.
· Completes Forms I-9, verifies I-9 documentation and maintains I-9 files.
· Reconciles benefits statements.
· Conducts audits of payroll, benefits platform and other HR programs and performs corrective action.
· Assists with processing of hires and terminations in HRIS; ensures new hires are set up in online benefit platform, EEO information is correct, and rehire status is correct, if applicable in HRIS.
· Administers and oversees company background check and substance screening process for pre-employment and random drug screening programs.
· Makes photocopies; mails, scans and emails documents; and performs other clerical functions.
· Assists or prepares correspondence as requested.
· Oversees and administers non-driver employee new hire orientation and onboarding process, in person
· Administers and oversees entire FMLA process from start to finish to ensure compliance.
· Administers initial employer responses to state unemployment claims and wage audits.
Performs other miscellaneous tasks assigned by HR Manger and VP, HR.
Job Requirements/Work Area Conditions:
Office
Educational/Experience:
High School graduate, Associate in or related field; and/or two-year equivalent experience preferred. Type: Human Resources/Transportation preferred.
Physical:
Works 8-9 hours/day at desk with only occasional, short breaks. Must have the
ability to solve complex problems and operate under considerable stress, within time
constraints. Must be able to talk on phone frequently with respect to our drivers and office
Special Skills:
Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint). IBM PC computer operation, and organizational skills. Attention to detail is a must. Ability to recall information accurately and in a timely manner. Must possess excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills. Must be able to keep sensitive company and employee information confidential as job requires.
