THE POSITION:

Experienced Sous Chef - Brighton – Full-time (Morning start time) Monday-Friday (No evenings or weekends)

Seeking an experienced Sous Chef with Culinary Arts degree to join our growing Culinary Operations team. The ideal candidate will have experience working in the food service industry in either restaurant, hotel, country club, catering, or medical facility food service.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Prepare foods (vegetables/starches, meats/poultry, fish/seafood, stocks/soups/sauces, specialty baking and desserts) for our Village shops that meet the nutritional and development needs of young children in accordance with the USDA Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP)

  • Assist in all areas of the TOC Village shops which include our coffee house, smoothie shop, and cafe. Some of these duties include taking guests' orders, preparing food, and operating a sales register.

  • Self-starter and able to work independently

  • Prepare food for special dietary needs such as gluten free, dairy free and vegan 

  • Possess good knife skills and familiar with kitchen equipment

  • Work various food stations – dishwashing, garde-manger, pantry/dessert, fry station, broiler station, sauté station, and expedite/window

  • Take inventory of foods and supplies

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Well-versed in cooking techniques

  • Baking experience helpful

  • Knowledgeable working with gluten and dairy-free nutrition

  • Desire to serve others

  • Exceptional customer service 

  • Exceptional communication skills

  • Compassionate and kind demeanor

  • Able to multitask 

Required Education and Experience:

  • Culinary Arts Degree

  • Serv-Safe Certification

  • 1 year work experience as a utility cook/kitchen assistant

  • Experience working with special dietary needs, preferred

  • High School Diploma or GED
