Salary Range: $18.00 - $18.00 Hourly

Primary Purpose of Position:

The Catering Cook is responsible for the overall operation of catering to maintain high production, productivity, quality standards, inventory levels, sanitation, maintain Kosher laws and food safety guidelines according to State and Federal guidelines and regulations in line with our established policies and procedures, and, as may be directed by the Director of Dining Services, to ensure that quality food service is provided at all times and deliver high quality menu and excellent customer services.

Job Duties:

  • Work with clients to choose a proper menu and with the assistance of the Director of Dining Services, pricing for the catering event.
  • Handle all catering preparation before the event and after to ensure the quality of the food and service is a success.
  • Prepare comprehensive catering order form according to client’s requirements and interests.
  • Oversee food preparation, transportation, and set-up activities to ensure successful event.
  • Ensure that all events and/or meetings are correctly set each day.
  • Assure all food items are cooked to proper temperature according to State and Federal guidelines.
  • Assures all food items temperatures are recorded/ documented at proper times.
  • Assures that the meal preparations are timed to meet the serving deadlines.
  • Ensures that food handling procedures are in accordance with sanitation policies of the facility and the State and Federal regulation agencies.
  • Complete, pass and maintain ServSafe certification.
  • Assure all refrigerators/ freezers temperatures are recorded/ documented at the proper times.
  • Always keeps kitchen and workstation clean and sanitary condition.
  • Provide input into development/revision or catering menus.
  • Oversees the Mobile Meals Program.
  • Prepares food in sufficient quantities and of high quality in accordance with the assigned menus.
  • Assures that the meal preparations are timed to meet the serving deadlines.
  • Monitors food inventories to assure that the needs for the menus and special dietary needs of the resident are met.
  • Ensure that the cooking staff always observes Kashrus in food preparation. Notifies the Director and Rabbi when a problem arises in Kashrus.

Qualifications


Experience:

  • Three years supervised food service experience in a skilled nursing facility, retirement facility, or residential service is preferred. 
  • Specialized training or experience in geriatric care or gerontology is desirable.

Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Specialized training in food service, specifically completion of an approved sanitation and safety course.

License and Certifications:

  • Serv Safe Certified or will obtain certification within 6 months and continual certification status.
