Orion Marine Group is Hiring a HR Coordinator Near Dallas, TX

POSITION SUMMARY

This position is accountable for providing Human Resources support for Orion and its affiliates. The incumbent will perform a broad scope of human resources duties including recruitment & staffing, disability management, employee relations, healthcare & benefits administration, 401(k) administration, personnel file management and HRIS. The incumbent will interface with all employees at its work location.

The incumbent must support the guiding beliefs and core values of Orion, which are centered onSafety, Quality,Delivery,andTeamworkmost importantly, with each built upon the all-important foundation ofIntegrity.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Works with HR leadership to achieve the goals and objectives of the Human Resources department and provides support in all areas of Human Resources.
  • Administers and ensures that the background check, MVR check and E-Verify process has been completed on all new hires and that all correspondence with regard to alcohol and drug test results are confidentially filed in the secure medical files.
  • Coordinates scheduling of new employee orientations with HR and HS&E Departments.
  • Creates and maintains personnel files on all active and inactive employees placing all necessary and required paperwork in their appropriate folders.
  • Performs onboarding orientations as may be required for new employees providing them with an overview of the company, the Orion group benefit package and review of applicable HR and company policies and procedures.
  • Processes and files Form I-9 documents that verify employment eligibility and keeps these documents separately for compliance.
  • Distributes employee benefit plan information to new employees on a timely basis to inform them of eligibility to participate in the group healthcare plan, 401(k) Retirement Plan, supplemental life and disability insurance and pre-tax flexible spending account programs.
  • Assists employees in answering group healthcare and 401(k) Retirement Plan questions and provides them with brochures and other information to help them with their benefit elections and completing online registration and enrollment.
  • Assists the HR leadership in distributing benefit program announcements and changes to all employees.
  • Monitors and tracks FMLA, other leaves of absences, and coordinates needed actions between the employee and the Company.
  • Inputs all required information on new employees into the human resources information system and updates employees' records as changes occur and coordinates with the Payroll Department to ensure that all data is accurate and timely.
  • Works with the Safety Department to provide employee information when injuries occur and for safety training purposes.
  • Ensures that all employee separation information is provided to IT and Payroll departments in a timely manner.
  • Creates custom reports as requested by HR leadership such as employee lists, address lists, compensation reports, benefit plan participants, etc.
  • Assists with the Affirmative Action Plan for assigned Orion division/s and provides annual data to HR corporate.
  • Assists in the creation and development of employee training presentations in the areas of workplace diversity, EEO, harassment prevention, supervisory skills training, etc.
  • Develops and updates Orion organizational charts, headcount reports, position descriptions and compensation surveys.
  • Serves as Company representative for community involvement activities, as required.
  • Identifies opportunities to implement or enhance human resource programs and processes that will increase the effectiveness of personnel to meet established performance goals.

  • Authorized and obligated to stop work on any task or series of tasks whenever an unsafe condition or situation is anticipated or is observed.
  • Complies with all applicable laws, regulations and Company policies and procedures, and is subject to appropriate disciplinary action (including dismissal) for failure to do so.
  • Reports any and all violations of applicable laws, regulations or Company policies and procedures promptly, and is subject to appropriate disciplinary action (including dismissal) for failure to do so.
  • Performs other related administrative and technical duties as may be assigned or requested by immediate supervision (such as certification training, safety training, procedure review, etc.).
  • All employees, current and former, must maintain confidentiality by not disclosing to others any confidential, proprietary or trade secret information belonging to the Company.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

An A.A. or B.S. Degree in Human Resource Management or related area or a minimum of 2 years Human Resources experience is required. Prior Office Administration training and certification is preferred.

The incumbent must also be 1) proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, 2) able to multitask several different projects at one time, 3) able to interface well with employees at all levels of the organization, and 4) be proficient with HRIS applications, 5) Bilingual (Spanish/English)

The position also requires excellent interpersonal skills, superior communication skills, and the ability to effectively relate to employees at all levels of the organization. In addition, the incumbent must be well organized and be a self-starter with the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be flexible with the ability to adjust to sudden changes in work priorities and must be able to prioritize work as needed.

The Company expects and requires incumbent and each of its other employees to observe and fulfill the above and all other safety responsibilities and actively work toward maintaining a safe workplace. Failure to do so can result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.

PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

The incumbent must be able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable workplace accommodation.

The individual must also be able to wear and properly utilize appropriate personal protective equipment if required to work or visit the jobsite. This may include hard hat, safety glasses, respirators, ear plugs, steel-toed shoes, personal flotation devices, or other equipment as required by the work performed and location the work is being done.

The incumbent must possess the ability to remain calm during emergencies and respond appropriately as dictated by the circumstance of the incident and as directed by the Safety Representative or other management personnel. Must be capable of evacuating the work area in a timely manner should an emergency situation arise.
