Position Summary
This recruitment will be used to fill one part-time (a maximum of 24 hours per week) KBVR-TV Entry-Level Show Producer position for the Orange Media Network (OMN) at Oregon State University (OSU).
The KBVR-TV Entry-Level Show Producer is responsible for coordinating and producing occasional live TV broadcasts for KBVR-TV. This includes live TV shows broadcast on channel 26 and online, and the uploading of full episodes and online-exclusive content to KBVR’s online platforms, including YouTube.
Position Duties
KBVR-TV Show Producer Responsibilities
  • Produce one scheduled episode of a TV show per term.
  • Examples could be sit-down interview show, late-night talk show, panel discussion, comedic “daily show” style, etc
  • Every episode must include live in-studio segments
  • Check in with Station Manager regularly in the leadup to the shoot to review progress, content, rundown, and other assistance. This position is intended to help newer producers learn the basics of producing a show, so frequent check-ins are required
  • Episodes must be exactly 30 minutes (includes content, breaks and credits)
  • Ensure all shows are properly staffed with dedicated crew members (director, TD, cameras, audio, etc.) Ensure volunteers are trained on equipment before the day of the show.
  • Work to ensure all crew members are given equal opportunities to grow, learn, and try out new crew positions. A producer creates the vision for the show, but it must be executed by a crew. A successful producer will not take on responsibilities that should be done by crew (hosting, directing, etc)
  • Build a detailed rundown for each episode, and share rundown with the crew, and share with station manager at scheduled meetings
  • When live show is completed, optimize show for YouTube and upload to KBVR-TV YouTube page within 24 hours and properly label it with appropriate title, description, tags, and cover image
  • After every show, hold a show meeting with crew specifically to watch the episode and engage in feedback and critique.
  • Responsible for ensuring all videos (both broadcast and online) have complete and accurate captioning. Provide full scripts, transcripts and prep material to station manager no later than 24 hours before airtime to ensure live captioners can review and ensure accuracy
  • Other duties as assigned by the adviser
Communication
  • Respond to emails, messages and phone calls the same day, professionally representing OMN
  • Notify adviser immediately should any ethical, legal, personnel or controversial problems occur
Collaboration
  • Hold and post regular office hours each week for Orange Media Network, at least half of which should be during regular business hours (8 a.m. – 5 p.m., Monday – Friday). Hours may vary during different stages of the term
  • Follow all OMN policies and procedures and hold all staff and volunteers to them as well
  • Act professionally
Minimum Qualifications
Full Employment Eligibility Requirements can be found here: http://fa.oregonstate.edu/stu-manual/500-employment-eligibility-requirements
