Position Summary
This recruitment will be used to fill one part-time (a maximum of 24 hours per week) Diversity Marketing and Outreach Assistant position for the Office of Institutional Diversity (OID) at Oregon State University (OSU).
The Diversity Marketing and Outreach Assistant is a student employee in the Office of Institutional Diversity (OID). This position is supervised by the Assistant Director of Outreach. This position works within OID to create marketing materials, design graphics for projects and contribute to OID’s online and social media presence. The position requires a strong commitment to principles of and action for diversity, equity, inclusion and social justice.
As an employee of Oregon State University, this position is a representative of the university and the Office of Institutional Diversity, which means the employee must abide by university policies, state, federal, and local laws throughout the duration of their appointment, and maintain credibility as a university and Office of Institutional Diversity representative.

  • Period of employment is approximately September 25, 2024 – June 13, 2025.
Position Duties
DUTIESANDRESPONSIBILITIES
To meet the marketing and communication needs of the Office of Institutional Diversity, the responsibilities and duties of the Diversity Marketing and Outreach Assistant position include but are not limited to the following:
  • Maintaining online and social media presence for OID by creating and maintaining content and graphics for the OID website and OID social media pages (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram)
  • Create marketing materials, which include, but are not limited to: fliers, brochures, print and online materials
  • Edit video interviews for the annual State of Diversity at Oregon State using editing programs
  • Contribute to the development of a marketing and engagement strategy for OID
  • Support marketing efforts for OID signature events and programs
  • Create graphics for OID projects and presentations
  • Attend diversity related events to highlight and promote diversity on-campus on social media
  • Work within the University Marketing and Relations brand guidelines
  • Complete other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be academically enrolled in a high school, community college, or university and pursuing a program or course of study
  • Must meet Academic Standing Requirements; students on academic suspension are not eligible for employment
  • Must meet the applicable minimal enrollment standard
    • High School student: Regularly enrolled in a high school or participating in a home-schooling program
    • Undergraduate and post-baccalaureate student: 6 credit hours per term
    • Undergraduate international student: 12 credit hours per term*
    • Graduate student officially admitted to Graduate School: 5 credit hours per term
    • Graduate international student officially admitted to Graduate School: 9 credit hours per term*
  • International students may be allowed to carry fewer hours than specified above and still be considered “full-time” by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). A reduced course load is approved by the Office of International Services (OIS), and must be provided to the Student Employment Center.
Additional Required Qualifications
The minimum qualifications of the Diversity Marketing and Outreach Assistant position include but are not limited to the following:
  • Experience in effective marketing and social media promotion
  • Effective communication and judgement in social media presence
  • Ability to work independently with a high level of self-direction
  • Demonstrable commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity
Preferred (Special) Qualifications
  • Experience in photo editing, video editing and graphic design programs
  • Experience using PowerPoint
Working Conditions / Work Schedule
WORKINGCONDITIONS
Typically, the Diversity Marketing and Outreach Assistant will work indoors in an office environment. Occasionally, this position will encounter the following circumstances:
  • Effectively communicating with members of the public
  • An unpredictable and dynamic work schedule/setting
COMPENSATION
As compensation for the successful completion of duties outlined, the Diversity Marketing and Outreach Assistant will receive a starting wage of $16.25 per hour.
