Position Summary
Student Employee will assist with shop organization, maintenance, and production of machined components in the CEOAS Machine and Technical Development (CMTD) facility.
Position Duties
40% Machine operation includes medium volume production of components on the manual milling
machine, CNC milling machine, manual lathe, and CNC lathe.
25% Shop maintenance pertains to routine maintenance of lubrication and cooling systems
on shop equipment as well as tooling inventory and monitoring.
25% Housekeeping
10% Component
assembly of outsourced and in-house components into field-ready instrumentation
and equipment.
Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be academically enrolled in a high school, community college, or university and pursuing a program or course of study
  • Must meet Academic Standing Requirements; students on academic suspension are not eligible for employment
  • Must meet the applicable minimal enrollment standard
    • High School student: Regularly enrolled in a high school or participating in a home-schooling program
    • Undergraduate and post-baccalaureate student: 6 credit hours per term
    • Undergraduate international student: 12 credit hours per term*
    • Graduate student officially admitted to Graduate School: 5 credit hours per term
    • Graduate international student officially admitted to Graduate School: 9 credit hours per term*
  • International students may be allowed to carry fewer hours than specified above and still be considered “full-time” by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). A reduced course load is approved by the Office of International Services (OIS), and must be provided to the Student Employment Center.
Additional Required Qualifications
Familiarity with Hand tools and basic machine tools.
Proficiency in reading precision measuring instruments.
Proficiency in reading mechanical drawings
Preferred (Special) Qualifications
Familiarity with Solidworks 3D modeling software.
Familiarity with HSM works CAM software.
Experience operating fork lift.
