The Fiscal & Operational Support Division of the Planning, Environmental & Development Services Department (PEDS) is seeking a qualified individual to fill the position of a Fiscal Officer. This position is responsible for the financial operations of a department or division. Duties include formulating budgets, establishing and maintaining billing systems, approving disbursements of funds, financial analysis, preparing fiscal reports, and assisting with processing of procurement documents and payment of invoices.
Although the primary responsibilities of this position include all fiscal aspects of the CDBG – Disaster Recovery grant, we also have Fiscal Officers responsible for other federal grants, revenue collection for development services and fiscal operations for the other divisions in our department. The selected candidate will be evaluated based on their qualifications and relevant experience and will be placed in the area needed at the time the position is filled.
This division offers frequent training opportunities to enhance technical knowledge and encourage professional growth. Cross training is provided when possible and every effort is made to prepare staff for promotional opportunities.
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Business or Public Administration, Accounting, Finance, or related field and two years of experience in the accounting field, to include budget preparation, maintenance of accounting systems, and supervision. An equivalent combination of education and experience, which provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities, is acceptable.
Experience in Microsoft Office such as Excel, Word, Access, and other accounting software.
Experience with federal, state and/or local grants.
Proficient in Microsoft Excel
