Opportunities for a Better Tomorrow is Hiring a Chief Operating Officer Near Brooklyn, NY

Opportunities for a Better Tomorrow (OBT) is seeking a dynamic and experienced Chief Operating Officer (COO) to provide strategic leadership and operational oversight across People Relations (HR) and Operations/Facilities. The COO will play a critical role in driving organizational growth, efficiency, and impact. The COO must be a very detail-oriented professional who can manage multiple pressing priorities at all times. 

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership:

  • Develop and execute comprehensive strategic plans in alignment with the mission and objectives of OBT, collaborating closely with the CEOs and other members of senior leadership team.
  • Cultivate and reinforce both participant-centric and employee-centric culture characterized, fostering an environment conducive to attracting, retaining, and motivating top-quality employees at all levels.

Operational Oversight:  

  • Provide leadership over day-to-day operations at all sites and all capital improvement projects. 
  • Serve as the point of contact for all service contracts related to the operations of the buildings, from cleaning and security, to IT, telephones, maintenance contracts, management companies, etc. 
  • Oversee the management of OBT's facilities and physical infrastructure, ensuring they provide a safe, secure, and conducive environment for both staff and clients.
  • Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to address facility-related needs and issues, proactively identifying and addressing any potential risks or concerns.

People Relations (HR) Oversight:

  • Lead the development and implementation of robust HR strategies, policies, and programs aimed at attracting, retaining, and developing top talent within the organization.
  • Lead employee-informed policy committee and publish all addenda to the agency’s emplo9yee handbook. 
  • Serve as the primary point of contact with the agency’s PEO, including all elements of human resources, benefits, and payroll. 
  • Support all key areas in HR, including recruitment, onboarding and offboarding, training, performance management, employee relations, and compliance with relevant labor laws and regulations.
  • Manage all facets of employee file development and maintenance. 

Information Technology (IT):

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive IT strategy to support organizational growth and innovation, ensuring the security, reliability, and scalability of IT systems and infrastructure.
  • Oversee the management of IT consultants and vendors, ensuring they effectively meet the technology needs of OBT staff and stakeholders.

Qualifications 

  • 8 years of progressive leadership experience, preferably within a non-profit organization or social services agency.
  • Master's degree in business administration, public administration, nonprofit management, or a related field preferred. BA in related field required. 
  • SHRM certification preferred. 
  • Demonstrated expertise in strategic planning, operations management, and organizational development a plus.
  • Strong leadership and management skills with a proven ability to inspire and motivate teams to achieve results.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills, with a track record of building and maintaining effective relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Passion for the mission and values of Opportunities for a Better Tomorrow, with a commitment to positively impact the lives of individuals and communities.
Salary Range: $120,000-140,000
