Opaa! is Hiring an Accountant Near Chesterfield, MO

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Accountant is responsible for all areas related to the preparation of timely and accurate financial statements and budgeting. This position is also responsible for forecasting and financial analysis.

FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB

Essential Functions

  1. Demonstrate and promote Opaa!’s Core Values of “Act in the Best Interest of the students, schools and communities we serve, Be honest in everything we do, Have a passion to serve others, Commit to continuous improvement”.
  2. Ensure an accurate and timely month and year end close.
  3. Manage the preparation and distribution of monthly financial reporting package using Prophix.
  4. Prepare and distribute monthly statistical reports at a district level.
  5. Respond to inquiries regarding statistical and financial results.
  6. Review monthly financial report results with senior management.
  7. Investigate and report G&A variances compared to budget and prior year.
  8. Lead the annual budget process including distributing all budget templates to the appropriate managers, compiling all budget templates into a consolidated file for review by senior management using Prophix software.
  9. Develop forecasted financial statements.
  10. Perform detailed analysis of variances between budget and actual.
  11. Perform detailed analysis of variances between Great Plains and BOSS.
  12. Maintain focus on continuous improvement and solutions by recommending process improvements to senior management.
  13. Additional duties as assigned.

  1. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, talk, hear, kneel, and sit. Occasionally required to stoop, push, pull, feel, grasp, and reach with hands and arms.
  2. The employee must exert over 25 pounds of force occasionally and/or be able to frequently lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects up to 35 pounds.
  3. Specific vision abilities required by this job include concentrated attention, close vision, far vision, and ability to bring objects into sharp focus.

Working Conditions: Working conditions commonly associated with the performance of the functions of this job.

  1. Inside and outside working conditions.

When visiting kitchens:

  1. Frequently works around moving mechanical parts and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and extreme heat.
  2. Occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals and extreme cold.
  3. Noise level is usually loud.

POSITION QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

Education: Bachelor Degree or equivalent work experience

Experience

  • Five years of experience in a similar position.
  • Passion for financial analysis and problem-solving.
  • Passion for utilizing data analysis tools.
  • Strong follow-up and multi-tasking skills.
  • Demonstrated teamwork skills.
  • Strong ability to integrate and communicate effectively, orally and in writing, with all levels of the organization. Able to write business correspondence and memos.
  • In-depth understanding of financial statements and cost accounting metrics.
  • Ability to identify trends and drivers of financial results.
  • In-depth understanding of MS Excel, proficiency in other Office applications including MS Access and PowerPoint.
  • Basic understanding of accounting software and report builders.
  • Knowledge of Great Plains and Prophix. Knowledge of Power BI is a plus.
  • Must be able to appropriately handle confidential information.
  • Must be able to travel, as required (est. 5% - 10%)

License(s)/Certification(s) Required: MBA / CPA a plus
