Position Title: SR. Microsoft Engineer

Location: Norfolk VA, Reston VA

Clearance: TS /SCI

Roles and Responsibilities:

The selected candidate will be expected to perform the following responsibilities and tasks:

• Design, implement, and manage Windows virtual machines in a lab environment.
• Participate in the planning of infrastructure on-premise in VMWare, but potentially in the cloud, suggesting strategies based on new and emerging technologies.
• Install, configure, and secure Internet Information Services on Windows servers.
• Take ownership of issues, collaborating with other teams and engineering leads to resolve issues in a timely manner.
• Perform routine system maintenance and resolve server-side/client-side issues as they arise.
• Document system configurations, processes, and procedures, as well as maintain and update existing documentation as needed.
• Mentor other team members in Microsoft OS engineering best practices, providing guidance and support when necessary.

Qualifications

Candidates must meet the following qualifications:

• Possess a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field or equivalent work experience.
• Have 12 years of professional experience in system engineering with a focus on Microsoft Windows Server environments.
• Possess a current DoD 8570 IAT III qualifying certification or the ability to acquire one within a 6-month grace period.
• Have a deep understanding of Windows Server technologies, Active Directory, Group Policy, and associated management tools.
• Have strong experience in PowerShell scripting or other Windows automation tools.
• Have experience installing, configuring, and securing IIS on Windows Servers.
• Possess working-level knowledge of network protocols, infrastructure services, and security configurations.
• Have experience with virtualization technologies such as VMware or Microsoft Hyper-V.
• Possess excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a track record of delivering complex projects successfully.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Certifications relevant to Windows or cloud computing technologies.
• Knowledge and experience with Windows virtual machines in a VMWare environment.
• Expert knowledge and experience with automating Windows installations.
• Experience operating in a team environment, collaborating in Agile practices, and operating in Sprints or following Scrum/Kanban management processes.
