Position Overview:
The Director of Finance & Accounting will be responsible for the direct management of several key accounting and reporting functions within the organization, including budgeting, planning, and forecasting; financial and regulatory reporting; internal controls and risk management; research and analysis; the procure-to-pay cycle; and compliance with contractual documents and other relevant regulations. The ideal candidate will be able to analyze financial information and prepare financial reports to determine and/or maintain records of assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liability, or other financial activities within the organization. The Director of Finance and Accounting will be involved in supporting presentations to the Board of Directors; assisting executives with treasury and cash management duties; and will serve as a key leader within the company.
The Director of Finance & Accounting will also lead, manage, coach and mentor a team of up to four staff members.
Compensation range for this role is $100,000 - $125,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Candidates can anticipate coming in at the midpoint of the range for room to grow.
Roles & Responsibilities:
Lead accounting function
Budgeting and forecasting
Full cycle general ledger accounting
Enterprise risk management by ensuring that company has the financial systems, policies, procedures, internal controls, segregation of duties and security access in place to safeguard assets and data; to prevent or detect fraud and conflicts of interest; to promote accurate and timely internal and external reporting and analysis; to ensure compliance with government contracts, debt covenants, and contractual obligations; and to ensure clean financial and government reviews and/or audits.
Lead and participate in month-end closing process
Compile data and compose financial reports for internal and external reporting
Oversee and manage staff’s performance of A/R and A/P functions
Prepare, examine and analyze accounting records, financial statements and other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness and conformance to reporting and procedural standards
Thorough analysis and commentary on General and Administrative (G&A) expenses in order to reduce and or curb G&A expansion/growth (explain variances to prior month, prior year)
Prepare accurate pricing models for new bids
Performs regular sensitivity analysis of reported margins to determine billing irregularities
Conduct in-depth financial analysis; provide expert financial perspective and opinions; proficient in spreadsheet design to facilitate complex analysis; and instrumental in helping to assess risk, analyze efficiency and inform business decisions made by executive management.
Prepare monthly and annual financial statement with footnotes
Primary company contact/liaison with banking partners
Execute special projects related to all OTSL business holdings as needed
Qualifications:
Accounting background, preferably with a Big 4
Experience extends beyond accounting into other finance functions
At least 5 years of experience; 8 preferred
CPA with previous F&A experience
Strong systems thinker for expense and account management
Thorough and organized
