Oklahoma State University is Hiring an Institutional Review Board (IRB) Manager Near Stillwater, OK

The IRB Manager is responsible for managing the University's human research participant protection program and administering the Institutional Review Board (IRB). This includes daily oversight, implementation, administration, and management of policies and procedures pertaining to human subject research activities. The incumbent helps to ensure that the IRB meets its primary responsibility of safeguarding the rights and welfare of human subjects who volunteer to participate in research conducted under the auspices of the University, while working to maintain compliance with pertinent regulations. The IRB Manager administers the protocol review system in accordance with institutional policies and standard operating procedures, provides consultation to University personnel, students, and IRB members with regard to human subject protection and IRB review, and supervises the activities of human research participant protection program personnel. The incumbent interacts with personnel of federal agencies, personnel of affiliated institutions, institutional officials, researchers, and human subjects to achieve a comprehensive human research participant protection program. In addition, the IRB Manager handles regulatory reporting.

Work schedule may extend beyond regular office hours of 8 am to 5 pm Monday to Friday, as needed to complete assignments.

Travel is required, including travel for training and professional development.

Education & Experience

Position Qualifications:

Required:

Bachelor's degree in social science, health science, education, management or related field

Four years related experience managing a human research protection program (preferably in an academic setting), or equivalent experience working in human subject protection, research administration, and/or compliance is required.

Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of regulations pertinent to human subjects research.

Ability to develop and present educational programs to a diverse constituency. Thus, teaching/training experience is required.

Proficient computer skills, which includes MS Office applications and database applications.

Excellent written communication skills.

Solid interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse audience of professionals.

Must be detail oriented, possess superb organizational skills, and be able to handle multiple projects simultaneously.

Preferred:

Master's degree in social science, health science, education, management or related field

Prior professional experience with human subjects research or IRB administration, preferably in an academic setting, is preferred.

Certified IRB Professional preferred.

Working knowledge of grants and contracts administration.
