Overview

The Director of Sales will be responsible for leading the sponsorship and premium seating department at the property with a focus on generating revenue from local, regional, and national companies through the sales of integrated sponsorship, premium seating, and hospitality packages throughout the venue. The position is responsible for managing the on-site sales and service team, overseeing the entire sales process from prospecting new business, presenting to prospective clients, negotiating, and then implementing contractual agreements with all partners.

This role will pay a salary of $55,000 to $65,000 base Commission.

About the Venue

The Donald L. Tucker Civic Center features a 12,500-seat arena, 34 luxury suites, 476 club seats, over 54,000 sq. ft. of meeting and exhibition space and an arena view restaurant, the Spotlight Grille. The arena is home to Florida State Men’s and Women’s basketball and is known for its electric atmosphere and fierce home court advantage. Not only a music and sports venue, the arena also is frequently used for trade shows, large catered functions, receptions, religious services, and classes. Responsibilities

  • Prospect and sell all available assets to include: hospitality suites and club seats (long term and single event), group ticket sales and corporate partnerships
  • Draft sales proposals, negotiate terms, and develop partnership agreements for prospective partners 
  • Proactively identify and assess partnership opportunities while establishing new client relationships utilizing various sales strategies, including but not limited to, research, cold calls, site visits, and in-person meetings
  • Develop and build strong relationships in the local market serving as the venue’s liaison with the corporate sector
  • Provide partners with proof of performance reviews to assist retention and upsell opportunities. 
  • Lead the development of sales collateral as required for both OVG and the property 
  • Identify strategic growth opportunities for the property or other properties through non-traditional inventory, platforms and partners
  • Select, train, motivate, evaluate and manage sales department personnel
  • Collaborate internally with other venue departments (Marketing, Operations, Events, Finance, Box Office, Food & Beverage) to build and execute creative and unique sponsorships
  • Effectively communicate client expectations and contractual obligations to appropriate internal departments to properly execute contracted agreements 
  • Establish and maintain complete, efficient records of all partner/prospect contacts, sales activity and lead generation through the company CRM software
  • Conduct business during non-traditional hours, taking advantage of opportunities to interact with clients and prospects during games, events and off-site gatherings 
  • Day of event responsibilities such as sponsorship activation setup, coordination, entertaining clients, premium seating preparation and fulfilling necessary sponsorship contract obligations 
  • Manage and coordinate all aspects of the departments current contractual agreements
  • Identify, source, and develop new partnerships on a national, regional, and local scale through research and business intelligence across the market 
  • Create and manage high-value, fully-integrated advertising and sponsorship packages that are in line with a partner’s marketing objectives 
  • Develop and implement all aspects of the sales plan
  • Deliver sales forecast and performance reporting to management
  • Track and manage daily, weekly, monthly sales reports
  • Participate in the development and administration of the annual budget
  • Conduct yourself in a mature, respectful manner internally and externally with all stakeholders. 
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or better from an accredited college or university is preferred in Marketing, Business or a related field
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of prior sales experience, preferably in Sports & Entertainment with an emphasis in premium seating, group ticket sales and/or corporate partnerships
  • Ability to assess a prospective client's needs through conversation and research and effectively create a sponsorship proposal that meets those needs and objectives
  • Entrepreneurial mindset to take ownership of your role and improve those around you
  • Ability to quickly establish personal relationships through trust, knowledge, and empathy
  • Ability to adapt your style or messaging to the needs of the client
  • Strong competitive spirit – Driven to succeed, win, and overcome obstacles through hard work and determination
  • Ability to exercise sound business judgment generating effective solutions quickly and raising issues to management as necessary
  • Experience in managing and leading
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills required
  • Strong focus on customer services and hospitality
  • Knowledge of ticketing software preferred
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office, Photoshop, and Sales Force preferred
  • Team player who is a creative and proactive problem solver
  • Must be able to work flexible hours including nights, weekends and holidays in addition to normal business hours as required
