Oak View Group is Hiring a Box Office Manager | Donald L Tucker Civic Center Near Tallahassee, FL

Overview:

OVG has an exciting opportunity for a Box Office Manager at the 12,000 seat multi-purpose Donald L. Tucker Civic Center on the campus of Florida State University. The FSU Tucker Center is home to both FSU Mens and Womens Basketball, multiple touring concerts, and several family shows annually. The Box Office Manager directs and oversees all aspects of the daily operation of the box office, providing world class customer and guest service. The ideal candidate will have proven experience in ticketing, staff management, and guest services.

This role will pay a salary of $50,000 to $60,000.

Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate event information between promoter, facility personnel, and ticketing company, including pricing and seating configurations
  • Manage communication and reporting with event promoters, event staff, and building management
  • Oversee daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly sales of tickets and enter data for building management
  • Reconcile any issues between ticket sales and the Finance department including shortages or overages
  • Maintain the internal controls of daily box office operations
  • Work and collaborate with the universitys athletic department ticketing staff for needs during athletic events
  • Organize box office financial information in conjunction with needs from the finance department
  • Manage all box office contractual agreements
  • Ensure the FSU Tucker Center sends and receives mail, packages, and daily cash deposits during business hours
  • Develop and maintain documentation and training material on Box Office policies and procedures including cash and credit card handling (PCI compliancy in accordance with Florida State University)
  • Manage annual PCI audits including evidence gathering, security policy changes and other tasks required to successfully complete PCI compliance audits for the building
  • Recruit, hire, train, schedule, and supervise part time Box Office staff ensuring that all staff are fully trained in handling customer opportunities and explaining policies
  • Maintain and assist in IT venue operations in coordination with FSU
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
  • Post-Secondary Diploma in Business Administration or Bachelors degree in related field
  • Minimum 3-5 years of increasingly responsible box office / ticketing experience, preferable with a sports facility, convention center, performing arts facility or other multipurpose assembly facility
  • Ability to multi-task, be organized, detail oriented, self-driven, forecast issues and handle last minute projects to meet deadlines
  • Strong interpersonal skills necessary, including excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to provide leadership, engage in positive interactions with staff and fans, prioritize and organize, motivate staff, problem solve, delegate, follow-up and communicate, both orally and in writing
  • Skill and knowledge of computerized ticketing operations and software (Ticketmaster TM1, TM Host, Microsoft Office Suite), guest services, phone etiquette, immediate and long-term decision making, cash management
  • Ability to work flexible and extended hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, in addition to normal business hours

  • While performing duties of this job, the employee is continuously asked to multi-task under time constraints. Position requires constant attention to precise details and accuracy of specified standards including: following simple to complex (more than 3 steps) instructions, and concentration which frequently extends beyond 30 minutes at a time. This position also requires constant use of interpersonal skills including: ability to motivate and inform staff and foster collaboration, being able to recognize and resolve conflicts, being able to openly communicate in writing and verbally with employees and other staff. Physical demands:

  • While performing duties of this job, the employee will frequently operate a computer and other office devices such as calculators, telephones, copy machines, faxes and printers. Employee will sometimes move about inside and outside various areas of the facility to interact with employees and other staff. Employee must constantly communicate via telephone, email and in-person with others and exchange accurate information. Employee may occasionally be required, due to business demands and event operations, to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

Work environment:

  • The duties of this position are performed primarily indoors in an office environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually minimal to moderate during non-event days and moderate to loud during event days.
