The Nueces Center for Mental Health and Intellectual Disabilities (MHID) is dedicated to helping the residents of Nueces County who are living with mental illness and/or intellectual and developmental disabilities. We serve over 10,000 people each year with psychiatric and behavioral health care outpatient services, counseling, training, employment assistance, housing support, homeless outreach, children's mental health care and more.

Full-Time, 40 Hour Work Week, Paid Bi-weekly
General Description
Under the supervision of the MCOT Supervisor, provides screening, completion of assessments, and crisis interventions to determine eligibility for crisis services, intakes and admission to adult mental health services. Completes intake as appropriate including the biopsychosocial, diagnostic impression and ANSA. Consults and communicates with Mobile Crisis Outreach Supervisor or other available LPHA in the clinical setting. Crisis assessments/interventions are completed as needed in a timely manner. Responsible for coordination and linkage to internal and external providers based on individuals needs with focus on discharge to the least restrictive environment inclusive of review of needed services, skills training, and psychosocial rehabilitation - monitors consumers progress with meeting treatment goals. Delivers interventions such as crisis de-escalation, case management, treatment planning, and discharge planning.
This position provides authorization for treatment through diagnostic evaluation, needs and strengths assessment and other clinical assessments to determine the lowest level of care. Certified or will obtain certification in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy through DSHS required instruction and supervision. This position offers CBT to individuals who meet the state's level of care criteria. Facilitate groups as needed and provide any other tasks as needed and/or assigned. Intern completes the diagnostic evaluation for authorization and signature of the MCOT Supervisor (LPHA).Minimum Qualifications
Master's Degree from accredited college or university with major in counseling, psychology, social work or other field related to human behavior. Must be a Licensed Professional Counselor - Associate (LPC-A), Licensed Clinical Social Worker Intern (LCSW-I) or Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist - Associate (LMFT-A). Licensure must be maintained, and be in good standing, for the duration of employment. Must have at least one year's experience working with individuals with severe mental illness(es). Experience in social and rehabilitative work. Must have a Valid Texas Driver's License and good driving record.
PREFERRED: Bilingual (English/Spanish). Must be within 1 year of full licensure or a fully Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), or Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist (LMFT) by the State of Texas. Have knowledge of the principles and practices of clinical supervision, management and of local, state and federal laws and regulations relevant to the program area.
Good computer skills - ability to enter information into electronic medical records and use of Microsoft Office products.
