Job Summary

The GL Accounting Manager is responsible for leading a team of accountants and managing the accounting functions for multiple business entities. This person is responsible for maintaining the balance sheet as well as the system of internal controls that will ensure the company assets are adequately safeguarded and that all financial reporting is prepared in compliance with all financial policies. The GL Accounting Manager will support the Senior Director of Accounting in maintaining accounting principles, practices, procedures, and initiatives.

What you will do in this role

• Lead and manage a team of accountants while implementing growth and development strategies for individual team members.
• Manage the general, day-to-day, accounting function for GL & expenses.
• Support aspects of the annual financial audit and quarterly reviews.
• Maintain financial records, with detailed support and analysis for all accounts, in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and organizational standards
• Support leadership and others in the organization by preparing certain financial statements. and other impactful and actionable information related to Provider and G&A overhead expenses.
• Maintain & run GL month end close procedures, including communication of progress.
• Deliver continuous improvement by assessing problem situations, identifying root causes, gathering, and processing relevant information, generating possible solutions, and making recommendations and/or resolving the problem.
• Identify and promote efficiency and effectiveness through improved processes and automation.
• Maintain the chart of accounts & setup of new facilities in the accounting systems.
• Ensure deadlines are met in accordance with NorthStar’s policies and procedures.
• Support Sr. Director of Accounting with special GL accounting projects and process improvements.

What qualifications you will need

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. Master’s degree preferred.
• CPA
• 6-8 years of Finance related experience.
• 5 years of accounting experience.
• 3-5 years of experience managing teams.
• Healthcare experience is a plus.
• An equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered.
