New Home Star is Hiring a Human Resource Assistant (Temporary) Near Elmhurst, IL

This is a temporary 6-month position.

Our company is looking for a part-time Human Resource Assistant with entry-level experience in human resources to add to our nationwide team for a temporary 6-month opportunity. New Home Star is the largest privately owned seller of new homes in America. As a member of our HR department, you will support our corporate office and field sales teams. Our Corporate Support Office is located in the heart of downtown Elmhurst and is not your typical “corporate” setting. Pay Structure & Benefits

  • $15 an hour.
  • 20-30 hours a week.
  • Flexible work hours and the ability to work a customized schedule to fit your education needs while you complete your degree program.

  • Hands-on experience in a corporate human resource department to begin utilizing your education in real-world situations.
  • Ability to work alongside other team members in multiple departments to learn and gain experience.

Requirements

New Home Star seeks a motivated, educated, goal-oriented professional to join our team. If you fit the requirements below, you are an ideal match for this position!

  • Proficient computer knowledge/skills (i.e., MS Office Suite such as Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, or another applicable program is preferred. Open to students currently enrolled in these programs or recent graduates with relevant experience.
  • Some previous professional experience is preferred but not required.
  • A sense of humor!
  • Extreme attention to detail and time management skills are a necessity.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize projects is necessary to succeed in this role.
  • Experience with MS Office Suite such as Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively, both in writing and verbally.
  • Ability to work in-person two days per week in the Elmhurst, IL, corporate office is required.
  • Background checks required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide quality customer service, attempting to answer questions and solve problems.
  • Perform general office work such as data entry, typing correspondences, saving, and filing.
  • Provide on-boarding and off-boarding support with various systems.
  • Prepare and ship welcome gifts during the onboarding process as needed.
  • Track and report the completion of company documents, forms, and other HR compliance documentation.
  • Provide clerical support to the Human Resources team.
  • Complete employment verifications and respond to unemployment claims as needed.
  • Assist in applicant screening for recruiting and hiring purposes.
  • Assist with special projects as assigned.
