Neighborhood Outreach Access to Health (NOAH) is looking for talented healthcare team members to step into our culturally diverse health centers! Job Summary:

The MA II position functions and is considered a department subject matter expert (SME) and is responsible for multiple operational tasks and project work in the department. Supports various aspects of the practice, including Vaccine for Children (VFC) program. The MA II is primarily responsible for in basket management for all physicians in the office. Supports various aspects of the practice, including charge entry, and collection of co-payments at time of service. Assists the physician in maintaining efficient patient flow within the office. Under the direction of a Provider, performs a variety of clerical and patient support duties including scheduling, receptionist, telephone, data input, and exam room and medical chart preparation. Works with managed care plans to obtain prior authorization to insure that services of physician and hospital are reimbursed by the plans. The MA II is considered a "float" position and will be asked to step in and cover any needs of the clinic. The MA II acts as a preceptor for MA externs and is or is preparing to be an EPIC SuperUser. Serves as a clinical role model, patient advocate, and resource to staff and patients.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Is considered department subject matter expert (SME) and responsible for operational tasks and project work in the department.
  • Performs regular internal audits on department processes and procedures.
  • Provides consultation on complex projects and is considered to be the top-level contributor regarding EPIC systems or other related department systems, including systems training and processes.
  • May act as a preceptor for MA externs.
  • Vaccine Coordinator: Rolls out new VFC education to clinic. Identifies and acts upon potential risks, investigates and documents follow-up on significant incidents, and involves appropriate resource(s) to ensure timely response.
  • Maintains appropriate records to facilitate accurate data collection and prepares required reports, audits and annual contract updates as requested by Vaccine Supervisor or Manager.
  • Responsible for vaccine ordering, storage, temperature logs and reports, handling, transport, and inventory management and educating staff on these protocols.
  • Maintains site contracts, inventory regulations and reconciliation and assists with site inspections.
  • Maintains documentation required by VFC and assists with annual inspections by Arizona Department of Health Services VFC program.
  • Responsible party to receive and assist in inventory, tracking and reporting of all vaccines (VFC, grant vaccines, etc.).
  • Perform proper oversight and ensure proper implementation of vaccine ordering, inventory, and storage/handling of all vaccines daily in clinic and during events.
  • Works as a Medical Office Assistant and floats as needed to fill clinic needs.
  • Prepares treatment rooms for examination of patients.
  • Escorts the patient to the examining room, obtains a brief history, documents chief complaint, takes vital signs to include weight and temperature.
  • Preps the patient for exam, assists the physician/clinician on exams and any special procedures, including EKG.
  • Performs a variety of front office duties as needed, including, but not limited to: reception, telephone, data entry, chart maintenance, insurance forms, scheduling and lab quality control.
  • Front Office support as needed: Receives telephone calls from patients, pharmacy and others; documents and relays information to provider for action. Phones pharmacy with approved medication orders/refills. Organize and communicate with insurance companies for authorizations for therapies, testing and specialist referrals. Performs a variety of front office duties as needed, including, but not limited to, reception, greeting patients, verification of information needed for billing and medical charting, telephone, chart maintenance, insurance forms, and scheduling.

NOAH requires all new hires to have received the first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine before their start date and be scheduled for their second dose. New hires who choose to receive the Johnson & Johnson vaccine only need one dose to fulfill this requirement. Reasonable accommodations will be considered.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:
Required:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 2 years - Experience in a medical office setting or hospital setting
  • 1 year - Vaccine Program experience
  • Certified or Registered Medical Assistant OR completion of a Medical Assistant program that meets the BOMEX training guidelines OR completion of a United States Armed Forces medical services training program OR meet necessary guidelines as described in Arizona Board of Medical Examiners Administrative Code, Title 4, Chapter 16, Article 4, Section R4-16-401, paragraphs A and B prior to start date.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Current and valid certification
  • Fingerprint Clearance Card - State current Fingerprint Clearance card, or within seven (7) working days after employment shall apply and be eligible for a Fingerprint Clearance Card (NOAH Clinical Sites and Pediatric Behavioral Health Sites ONLY)

Preferred:

  • 1 year - Experience training, committee participation, precepting, etc.
  • 1 year - EPIC experience

Pay: $19.23 - $26.44 per hour
