Native American Connections is Hiring a Case Aide Near Phoenix, AZ

Shift: Saturday and Sunday 11:00PM-7:00AM
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Lodge is temporary shelter for adults who are high risk of contracting COVID-19 and experiencing homelessness. Shelter Support Specialists I staff the property in the evenings and nights to make 24/7 support for guests possible. The Shelter Support Specialist is responsible for ensuring the overall security of the property and maintaining a welcoming, safe, and supportive environment. 
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Maintain a shift report in Microsoft Excel that captures interactions with guests, vendors, and outside service providers. The shift report is also a place to leave messages for other staff, point out needed follow-ups, note provision of supplies, and record resident participation.
  • Distribute meals to each room
  • Complete hourly property walks to maintain an active, supportive presence.
  • Complete assigned shift chores.
  • Assist guests as needed with a variety of tasks such as completing various paperwork, answering questions related to their tenancy, troubleshooting maintenance needs, demonstrating life skills, distributing supplies, or simply be a listening ear.
  • Sort donated items, wash and store appropriate items in the storage area.
  • Willingness to obtain and maintain a Food Handler’s Card within 2 weeks of hire (will be reimbursed)
  • Attend staff meetings and trainings as requested
  • Other duties as assigned
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENT:
  • High School Diploma or GED
WORK EXPERIENCE /SKILLS REQUIRMENT:
  • 6 months experience in service delivery or any combination of related education, professional training or work experience which demonstrates the ability to successfully perform duties
  • Must be comfortable working independently.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to work effectively with a wide range of people, teams, managers, supervisors, and vendors.
  • Able to mediate and resolve conflict.
  • Must demonstrate critical thinking, problem-solving, organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Experience in working with the Native American population preferred. Knowledge of the economic, educational and social problems of Native Americans and referral services
  • Excellent communication skills – written and oral
  • MS Office skills
  • Able to perform general janitorial duties to include bending, lifting, heavy and light cleaning, negotiate stairs and carry up to 50 lbs.
FAIR LABOR STANDARDS ACT:
This position is considered to be Non- Exempt for overtime pay provisions as provided by the Federal Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and any applicable state laws. Non-Exempt employees are entitled to overtime pay for hours worked in excess of forty (40) hours per workweek.
