Currently, MUJI U.S.A. seeks a Store Manager, to lead the 5th Avenue Store Team. This is a leadership role where you will have the opportunity to be involved in a variety of functions. If your experience/education and/or skill set match our needs, we want to hear from you!
Responsibilities will include:
Sales
- Maximize opportunities for sales by use of merchandise and company reporting tools.
- Responsible for sales budgets and ensure all staff are aware of targets.
- Manage profit and loss for assigned location.
- Ensure compliance with laws applicable to the retail industry.
- Maintain highest standards of Customer Service regarding complaints handling and after sales service.
- Liaising with the local community ensuring promotional activities (e.g. seasonal sales, advertising etc.) are prominent at branch level with the utmost impact.
- Plan and run sales promotions as needed.
- Study store trends and make appropriate suggestions to Area and/or Sales Manager.
- Determine marketing strategy changes by reviewing store and departmental sales records.
- Work with stockroom supervisor to ensure stock levels and product mix meet demands.
- Flexibility to work varied hours including late shifts, weekends and holidays.
Customer Service
- Work with the Management Team to perfect the customer’s journey with focused customer service training and best seller information. Hold regular group training sessions.
Team Management
- Ensure all staff receive appropriate and necessary training.
- Ensure Assistant Store Managers on the team are fully capable of substituting in Store Managers absence.
- Perform timely and consistent performance reviews in line with MUJI U.S.A.’s directives.
- Organize staff schedule to achieve the most cost-effective coverage ensuring overtime is minimized and authorized.
- Adhere to and enforce MUJI U.S.A.’s Policies and Procedures.
Communication
- Ensure all merchandise information, bulletins, circulars and announcements/memos are communicated to employees.
- Ensure effective communication and encourage the exchange of ideas.
- Communicate relevant information, ideas and problems to Area and Sales Managers.
- Promote strong communication amongst the management team by liaising with other store managers.
Visual Merchandising
- Ensure visual merchandising standards are maintained as set by the Operations and Visual Merchandising departments.
- Ensure housekeeping standards are maintained.
- Ensure the store is maintained to MUJI U.S.A. standards and be fully conversant with procedures required to achieve this.
Point of Sale
- Ensure Associates are providing superior sales service in efficient cash handling and appropriate packing of merchandise.
- Ensure the company cash handling procedures are correctly and accurately adhered to.
Human Resources
- Maintain staffing levels by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees.
- Maintain store staff performance by coaching, counseling, and disciplining, planning, monitoring, and appraising employees.
- Ensure MUJI U.S.A.’s on-boarding procedures are being followed.
Security
- Take responsibility for security of the store, stock and cash, and liaise with Area Manager or Sales Manager over potential problems.
- Maintain stock losses to a minimum (maximum of 1% of sales).
- Responsible for running twice-yearly inventories.
Maintenance
- Ensure maintenance issues are resolved efficiently.
- Oversee proper use of alarm system and ensure an authorized key holder is on premises during opening hours, and are fully aware of procedures.
- Ensure access to store, outside normal operating hours, is authorized and communicated to Area Manager/Sales Manager.
- Maintain maximum security at all times.
- Ensure a safe and clean store environment.
