Position Overview: As a Medical Assistant at our primary care office, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our healthcare facility. You will work closely with physician and other healthcare professionals to provide excellent patient care and administrative support. Your responsibilities will include both clinical and administrative tasks, requiring strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize effectively.
Key Responsibilities:
Clinical Duties:Greet patients, obtain their medical history, and prepare them for examination.
Measure and record vital signs such as blood pressure, temperature, and pulse.
Assist physicians during patient examinations and minor surgical procedures.
Perform routine medical procedures such as venipuncture, injections, and wound care.
Administer medications and vaccinations as directed by healthcare providers.
Conduct basic laboratory tests, such as urine analysis and blood glucose monitoring.
Prepare and maintain examination rooms, ensuring cleanliness and availability of supplies.
Provide patient education on medication instructions, diet, exercise, and self-care.
Administrative Duties: Schedule appointments, manage patient records, and update electronic health records (EHR).
Answer phone calls, respond to inquiries, and direct calls to the appropriate personnel.
Coordinate referrals to specialists and facilitate communication between providers.
Assist in billing and coding procedures, ensuring accurate documentation for reimbursement.
Handle administrative tasks such as filing, faxing, and processing insurance forms.
Maintain inventory of medical supplies and equipment, restocking as needed.
Collaborate with the front desk staff to ensure efficient patient flow and appointment scheduling.
Compliance and Quality Assurance: Adhere to HIPAA regulations and maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
Follow established protocols, guidelines, and policies to ensure patient safety.
Assist with infection control procedures and maintain a clean and sterile environment.
Participate in quality improvement initiatives, suggesting process enhancements when necessary.
Stay updated on medical best practices, attend training sessions, and pursue professional development.
