As a Benefits Specialist on our Human Resources team, you will have the opportunity for work including:

  • Serving as the subject matter expert and point of contact within company benefits coordination and communication.
  • Managing eligibility and enrollment of company-sponsored 401(k), health and welfare plans, and other benefit offerings to include distribution and submission of monthly and annual enrollment documents.
  • Serving as the liaison between our employees and benefits vendors. This includes:
  • Coordinating the transfer of data to providers for services, premiums, and plan administration.
  • Resolving administrative cases with the carrier representatives.
  • Working with provider representatives to resolve account corrections or issues.
  • Investigating, analyzing, and resolving a wide range of benefits issues.
  • Providing benefits orientation information and self-enrollment support to all new eligible employees.
  • Being responsible for implementation of year-round agency benefits communication plan; including new employee enrollment outreach, scheduled employee benefits information sessions, and distribution of required employee notices.
  • Coordinating with our third-party vendor to monitor and complete COBRA continuation requirements to employees including distributing general notices, election notices, processing enrollment information, accepting payments, and maintaining record keeping system to track billing.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. A full list of job responsibilities will be provided prior to an interview. This position must obtain required background clearances. Requests for reasonable accommodation as required under applicable law will be considered.

Education and Experience

Required: Four-year degree in human resources, business administration, or applicable related field with one or more years of experience in company benefits coordination required. A combination of experience and education may be substituted for the qualifications stated previously. Preferred: In addition to required education and experience, at least five years of experience in a company benefits coordinator role. PHR/SHRM-CP is preferred but not required. Experience working in a non-profit environment for one or more years preferred.
