The Teaching Academy at Morehouse School of Medicine is dedicated to advancing the quality of teaching and learning within the institution. It serves as a hub for faculty development, instructional innovation, and pedagogical research. It is designed to:
  • Enhance teaching practices through workshops, seminars, and training programs aimed at professional development for educators.

Minimum Qualifications
Education:
  • A master’s degree
Experience:

Job Duties
Description of Job Duty
Reporting directly to the Chair of the department, the Director will provide strategic leadership to the Teaching Academy and play a pivotal role in advancing the quality of teaching and learning within the institution. The Teaching Academy provides professional development and support for faculty to enhance pedagogical practices, promote innovative teaching methods, and ensure an enriching educational experience for students. Responsibilities of the Director of the Teaching Academy include the following:
  • Develop and implement a strategic vision for the Teaching Academy aligned with the university’s educational goals.
  • Lead, manage, and inspire a team of faculty development specialists, educators, and support staff.
  • Design and oversee professional development programs, workshops, and resources to support faculty in implementing effective teaching strategies and innovative educational technologies.
  • Collaborate with departments and academic units to tailor programs to specific disciplines and teaching needs.
  • Champion and guide the development of innovative, evidence-based curriculum models and pedagogical methods.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement in teaching methods, assessment, and student engagement.
  • Encourage and support research in teaching and learning through scholarly activities, grants, and publication opportunities.
  • Develop assessment tools and metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of teaching practices and educational initiatives.
  • Utilize assessment data to guide decision-making and improvement strategies.
  • Foster collaborations with other academic institutions, educational consortia, and professional organizations to stay current with best practices and trends in higher education.

Immunization Requirements
It is MSM’s Immunization policy that all Prospective Employees are required to provide proof that they are vaccinated against COVID-19 prior to commencement of employment.
