MORAVIAN HOME INCORPORATED is Hiring a Salemtowne - Lead Housekeeper - Full Time (Weekend Availability) Near Salem, NC

Job Summary:

The Lead Housekeeper supports the accomplishment of department objectives by conducting quality assessments and coordinating staff activity in assigned areas, providing for the security of residents and their belongings, establishing, and maintaining par levels of housekeeping and laundry supplies, etc.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Maintains high levels of resident satisfaction with facility cleanliness and sanitation and ensures that Salemtowne complies with standards set by OSHA and the state Health Department by conducting Quality Assurance inspections in assigned areas on a regular basis and taking corrective action to address any problems identified.
  • Supports the effectiveness, efficiency, and job satisfaction of department staff by providing on-the-job orientation and training to staff in assigned areas, identifying needs for in-services, and ensuring participation of staff in assigned areas at in-services; coordinates weekly meetings for staff in assigned areas; fills in for staff vacancies as assigned.
  • Provides for the safety of residents and employees in assigned areas by implementing proper safety procedures, maintaining equipment in safe working order, and keeping all cleaning solutions properly labeled and always stored.
  • Ensure that staff have the supplies needed to do their jobs by establishing and maintaining par levels of inventory and completing purchase orders for Housekeeping Supervisor; estimates supplies, and equipment needed for annual budget.
  • Provides for the security of residents and employees by implementing and maintaining a system to record key distribution daily; maintains and monitors residents’ storage area(s).
  • Supports the accomplishment of department human resource objectives by distributing work and special projects to staff in assigned areas based on attendance and workload requirements; maintaining attendance records for staff in assigned areas and providing input to the Housekeeping Supervisor on attendance, performance, etc. for the purposes of completing annual reviews, corrective action, and terminations for staff in assigned areas.
  • Ensures that set-up and breakdown requests and resident moves are completed in a timely manner with high levels of customer satisfaction by responding to calls from staff who have previously requested such assistance and by coordinating emergency requests for set-up, breakdown, or resident moves.
  • Keeps skills up to date by attending mandatory in-services and pursuing appropriate continuing education.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Good oral communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Possess and exhibit a strong positive attitude toward customer service and a genuine interest in geriatric care and uphold the philosophy of the community.
  • Proficient in reading, writing, and following written and verbal directions.
  • Ability to strive to do the best job possible and accountable for one’s own action.

  • Willingness to maintain a safety-first mindset.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Executive Housekeeper certification required within one (1) year of hire or promotion.
  • Three (3) or more years' housekeeping experience; preferably in a health care setting.

Physical Requirements:

  • Capable of standing and walking short distances for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and/or pull objects more than 50 pounds.
  • Stoop and bend at the knees, twisting from side to side at the waist.
  • Reach above, below, and at shoulder level.
  • Sensory demands include vision correctable to 20/20, touch using fine finger movement/dexterity, smell, and hear correctable to normal range.

Work Environment:

Works throughout the community. Possible work hazards include airborne particles, bloodborne pathogens, moving parts, offensive odors, and toxic chemicals/fumes.
