Job Summary:

The Medication Aide administers daily medication to patients/residents in skilled nursing.

Essential Job Functions:

• Delivers routine daily medications, either prescription or non-prescription, to patients.
• Coordinates with different nurses to assist with patient care and medications.
• Follows written or verbal instructions on how to manage medications.
• Records medication dosages and times.
• Observes patients and documents changes in their condition.
• Gathers samples for analysis.
• Ensures equipment is routinely inspected and cleaned.
• Upholds all health and safety standards.
• Responds to patient emergency call signals, bells, or intercom systems to identify patient needs.
• Works in the capacity of a CNA when needed.
• Supports the organization's mission, vision, and values by becoming familiar and acting in accordance with company policies and procedures.
• Promotes exceptional customer service by participation in Salemtowne Shines & fulfilling the commitments & values of the program.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or relevant qualification.
• Must be a certified medication aide.
• A minimum of 2 years’ experience as a medication aide.

Physical Requirements:

• Capable of standing and walking short distances for extended periods of time.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 20 pounds.
• Ability to push and pull objects more than 50 pounds.
• Stoop and bend at the knees, twisting from side to side at the waist.
• Reach above, below, and at shoulder level.

Work Environment:

Works in a clean, well-lighted facility. Possible work hazards include bloodborne pathogens, moving parts, muscular pains, and strong offensive odors.
