The Director of Internal Communications & Events is responsible for the planning and execution of all internal corporate communications strategies and events in alignment with the company’s portfolio objectives, employer branding and the greater MHUSA 2030 strategy. They will work with the VP of Communications, the MHUSA Leadership Team as well as the SVP of People to create a synergistic communications and events strategy that utilizes a consistent luxury voice to build a culture of inclusivity, engagement, transparency, and empowerment through the delivery of information, content and events that support employee accountability, performance, and growth.

Internal Communications

  • Define and transmit the voice of MHUSA and its employees to the organization; align with commercial, corporate and brand messaging to ensure the seamless and consistent application across a variety of communication channels
  • In partnership with the VP of Communications and the SVP of People, lead the development and delivery of an internal communications strategy that addresses communication needs across all functional areas as well as the MHUSA Employee Resource Groups
  • Develop and draft for approval all employee facing internal communications, including the messaging and delivery of any rapid-response crisis communications in partnership with the MHUSA Leadership Team, SVP of People and VP of Communications
  • Create and maintain the cadence and frequency of recurring internal communication channels and platforms
  • Develop and evolve tools and guidelines to support impactful and engaging internal messaging, aligned with MHUSA’s commitment to Inclusion, Diversity and Equity and consistent with our policies & procedures
  • Work with the Communications team to assess and optimize existing channels for Internal Communications to strengthen all employees’ understanding of company strategy and culture; spearhead the exploration of new and innovative ways to reach and engage a diverse range of internal audiences
  • Leverage existing and create new events and opportunities to enhance engagement and employees’ connection with one another
  • Partner with the VP of Communications, SVP of People, CEO and greater MHUSA Leadership Team to craft internal communication, speeches, remarks, presentations from the office of the President & CEO; continually seek and identify opportunities for the CEO, SVP of People and LT to communicate to the organization through internal platforms
  • Maintain awareness of the pulse of the organization and its employees to make strong recommendations to the VP of Communications, SVP or People and MHUSA Leadership Team around the types of communication platforms and communications to support the broader MHUSA business and people agendas and the MHUSA 2030 strategy

Profile

Events

  • Lead the planning and execution of all corporate events and experiences, including distributor conferences, town hall meetings, award events, company-wide conference calls, employee engagement activities, ERG events, etc., collaborating with internal departments and third-party vendors, as necessary
  • Collaborate with all relevant internal and external stakeholders to develop an annual calendar of corporate events, leveraging current partnerships and MHUSA brand assets to optimize corporate brand positioning; and ensure adherence to the calendar
  • Deliver flawless event execution, ensuring that all elements convey consistent messaging, in alignment with MHUSA luxury brand positioning, including invitations, entertainment, décor/design, menu planning, beverage service, etc.
  • Collaborate with Legal team and other key stakeholders to ensure that all event components are compliant with internal and external legal regulations and guidelines
  • Collaborate with Consumer Insights, Analytics and Business Growth to monitor all event results, evaluate ROI where applicable, and communicate qualitative/quantitative analysis to key stakeholders, advancing data-driven decision making for future event planning.

Education
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience

Professional Experience
8-10 years of corporate communications and event planning experience, preferably in a luxury environment
Wines and spirits experience preferred

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills across a broad and diverse audience
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Highly organized with demonstrated project management skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills; relates well and builds relationships with different people across functions and levels within the organization
  • Action oriented: highly motivated, energetic, and enthusiastic
  • Capacity to influence, convince and manage accountability across levels
  • Ability to manage sensitive and highly confidential information and matters in a trusted and responsible manner
  • Extremely organized and detail oriented. Ability to handle several tasks concurrently with ease
  • Experience working with a team in a fast-paced setting
