JOB SUMMARY

Manage operation of Paint Department processes and associates. Observes, evaluates, and recommends measures for improvement. Interprets and conveys company policy and strategies.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Essential job functions are duties that are critical or fundamental to the performance of the job. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job function satisfactorily; other duties being assigned as necessary to department, or company mission.

  • Develop department’s business plan; implement and track activities, report to Plant Manager as requested.
  • Develop short- and long-term manpower planning based on production needs.
  • Tracks, monitors, and controls department expense, labor, and investment budget.
  • Assists in monitoring and reporting daily production results with countermeasure activity for production gaps.
  • Daily monitoring and managing of department safety initiatives including training and reporting.
  • Manage department personnel including time/attendance, discipline, and performance assessment.
  • Lead daily quality initiatives, including improvement planning, kaizen activities, abnormal process procedures, suspect part procedures, scrap part handling, corrective/preventative actions, and rework management.
  • Leads process improvement initiatives for the department.
  • Other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This job includes direct supervisory responsibility for Assistant Manager(s), Coordinator(s), and indirect responsibility for Technical Staff, Team Leader(s), and Production Associates.

GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS: EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal with various levels of associates from production associate to senior management.
  • Ability to write and communicate standardized processes and procedures to associates.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers and associates.
  • Ability to lead a large team and effectively train and motivate team members, as well as work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and various graphs.
  • Ability to identify abnormal conditions in the manufacturing process and adjust to changing production schedules and priorities.
  • Excellent ability to use problem-solving methods to determine root cause of product defects.
  • Ability to evaluate issues related to people and processes and choose the best plan of action to improve situations.
  • Ability to quickly learn new products and processes.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Lotus Notes or similar application software.

EDUCATION/LICENSURE/CERTIFICATIONS

Prefer candidates with the following education and experience or equivalent combination of education and experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in business, engineering, or related field or equivalent experience.
  • 4-6 years of additional management experience, preferably in a fast-paced automotive manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated experience with improving assembly processes, procedures, and people.

SENSORY/PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

The work environment characteristics described are representative of those an employee typically encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. An employee must be willing to work any shift or required overtime, as needed, on a seven-day work cycle depending on company needs and customer production demands. Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $95,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
