Milhouse Engineering & Construction is Hiring a Section Manager, Project Management Near Chicago, IL

The Section Manager, Project Management will lead the team of Project Managers and Project Management professionals to execute complex engineering design and project management on projects for our utility companies across the country. They are accountable for the success of the Power Project Management section as they develop the growth plan, quality plan, and strategic goals alongside leadership while coaching and developing your team of leaders and technical team members.

What you will do:

  • Lead and oversee execution of engineering designs for client with regulatory requirements.
  • Developing, implementing, and enforcing Milhouse Project Management standards.
  • Responsible for the edification of the team members in group including continuous coaching, regular feedback regarding performance & professional development activities such as individual career plans & performance reviews.
  • Responsible for the group’s resource management, including ensuring the group meets its KPIs such as utilization and billability.
  • Working with the Strategic Talent Operations team to develop and execute the recruitment strategy for their group.
  • Coordinating with engineers or designers and CAD drafters to ensure stakeholder satisfaction with projects.
  • Supervising staff and approving or rejecting their designs.
  • Providing support for plotting and electronic file submissions.
  • Interacting on project standards coordination with clients.
  • Drives Business Development and Strategy within group.
  • Responsible for the edification of team members in group.
  • Responsible for the quality of all projects and programs for the Power CAD design section.
  • Build & maintain good rapport with clients.
  • Coordinate / communicate project status with client and project team.
  • Drive quality and keep Milhouse Engineering leadership advised of all quality.
  • Drive schedule and budget adherence.
  • Reporting safety, health and quality issues to management. 
  • Creating and enforcing project quality plans.
  • Prepare contract amendments, change order documentation, and claims documentation. 
  • Manage the development of bill of materials and cable schedules. 
  • Data and document entry into various platforms.
  • Ability to guarantee project execution.
What we are looking for:
  • Proficient in Microsoft Windows, Word, and Excel as well as ACAD or MicroStation and Revit.
  • Knowledge of applicable codes and standards.
  • Familiar with discipline specific design software and design management systems. 
Your background:
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering
  • 10 years of experience with supporting engineering design/consulting
  • 3 years of prior leadership experience
  • Professional Engineers license preferred
  • Experience with multiple utility standards preferred
  • PMP preferred
