The Accounting Manager is an integral resource to the Controller by examining and analyzing of accounting records and supporting the accounting and finance activities for Milhouse Engineering & Construction, Inc., its subsidiaries, and affiliates. The position will take over supervisory responsibility from the Controller of Staff Accountants, while working closely with the Accounts Receivable Manager (and team of direct reports) to assume the functions of accounts payable while working through others, and project leaders throughout the firm. The Accounting Manager will aid the Controller in ensuring that proper internal control procedures are in place and monitored and that financial statements are in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. 

What you will do:

• In conjunction with the Controller you will manage and monitor all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems ensuring compliance with appropriate GAAP standards and regulatory requirements as well as the requirements of private contributions, loans, and government contracts
• Maintain internal control safeguards for the receipt of revenue, costs and both team and organizational budgets and actual expenditures
• In conjunction with the Controller establish financial and operating benchmarks, budgets, program monitoring, and reporting standards on a bi-weekly, monthly, and annual basis
• Implement consistent accounting policies, practices, and procedures across all programs, upholding federal, state, and local legal standards by remaining knowledgeable about existing, new, and future legislation
• Develop and enforce internal controls to maximize protection of company assets, policies, procedures, and workflow
• Oversee and support accounting team with dynamic leadership that creates an environment of trust and productivity

• 10 years’ experience as a senior-level accountant
• Prior leadership is required
• Experience within the AEC industry is required
• Advanced excel skills; proficient with pivot tables, v-look ups and alike
• Vantage Point (Deltek) experience highly preferred 

• Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, or related field
• CPA advantageous but not mandatory
• Working knowledge of finance law and regulatory standards (GAAP)
