Midtown International School is Hiring an Instructional Coach Near Atlanta, GA

Midtown International School is currently accepting applicants for an instructional coach to begin in July 2024.

Summary

MIS faculty and staff embrace the ideals of global citizenship and lifelong learning. Our teachers have a strong and demonstrated commitment to research and implementing project- and problem-based learning strategies in the classroom.

As the Midtown International School Instructional Coordinator, you work in partnership with the various constituent groups within the school to provide instructional coaching for faculty members and academic guidance at the administrative level (to include long-term contractors as needed.)

This role is a non-supervisory leadership position.

Instructional Support

  • Coach, problem-solve, support, and collaborate with Instructional Faculty in areas of classroom management and environment, communication, and instructional techniques. Partner with faculty in evaluating and selecting instructional materials to meet student learning needs.
  • Conduct regular teacher support strolls and instructional walkthroughs.
  • Offer co-teaching opportunities and/or model lesson observations of instructional practices either within your own classroom or the classroom of the teacher you are supporting.
  • Monitor curriculum integrity, alignment, and articulation across all school levels, especially regarding problem-based learning, MIS’s critical thinking grading scale, best practices of gifted instruction, and the school’s mission, equity proclamation, and core values.
  • Stay up-to-date on best practices in pedagogy, curriculum development, assessment, and child development. Maintain a personal, relevant, and current collection of data-informed/research-based resources to share with faculty both at a school-level and in response to specific contexts.
  • Plan and execute professional development sessions related to instruction as part of New Teacher Orientation, All-Faculty Pre-planning and other Professional Development Teacher Workdays.
  • Review syllabi, rubrics, class MyMIS pages, lesson plans, progress reports, report cards, and gradebooks of Elementary and Middle Grades Faculty on a regular basis. Use this data to inform decision-making and support consistent application of both school vision and vertical alignment.
  • Research and share professional development opportunities for instructional faculty.
  • Leverage staff strengths to achieve the school's promise and goals.
  • Serve as the teacher of record for at least or 7-12 instructional hours per week per semester.
  • Support reading and math specialists who are providing pull-out services with school logistics and goals.

Parent Support

  • Participate in planning and executing Parent Education Seminars as they relate to academics and instructional philosophies
  • Support teachers as needed in the creation of communications to parents that are clear, positive, and aligned with school core values and pedagogy.
  • Serve as a positive and accessible representative of the administration at school events and in daily operations that interact with and serve families.

Student Advocacy

  • Seek opportunities to establish and maintain positive and supportive relationships with students at all division levels.
  • Refer regularly to academic profiles of students with specific academic needs. Support and monitor the consistent implementation of accommodations in the classroom.

Administration Support

  • Keep accurate records of meeting, coaching and support, observations, etc.
  • Advocate with the administrative team on behalf of teaching faculty as needed.
  • Maintain budget and manage purchasing requests for instructional materials and resources as needed and in alignment with our curricular goals and values
  • Take a collaborative leadership role in the accreditation process and annual reviews of strategic plans and school improvement plans.
  • Coordinate and lead annual reviews and updates of trajectories.
  • Serve as administrator on school subscriptions to digital tools and support the on-boarding and implementation of said tools.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Education
  • 3 Years of teaching experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5 years of experience in primary or secondary education
  • Master’s degree in Education
  • Gifted Education experience/ certification

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $60,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
