Job Description

Title: Instructional Coach 

Position Description: The Instructional Coach is a teacher leader who serves in the capacity of a site-based instructional coach for K-8th grade teachers. They support classroom teachers by giving training in content, instructional methods, and techniques. In addition, they continuously provide leadership through consistent feedback and modeling that supports holistic genius-awakening learning aligned to the Kindezi academic visions

Reports to: Principals

Network Support: Academic Team

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensures fidelity of pedagogical implementation as outlined in the Kindezi Instructional Playbooks per content area
  • Facilitates professional learning communities and assists teachers with collaborative lesson planning.
  • Uses observation and achievement data to identify professional development needs and designs and delivers site-based professional learning.
  • Assists with reviewing classroom lesson plans and provides lesson plan feedback to teachers
  • Collaborate with Academic team to determine best instructional practices per content scope and sequence
  • Attends instructional leadership meetings and school based leader meetings as necessary

Observations & Coaching

  • Promotes network instructional priorities by providing support and demonstration of the following skills: training, modeling coaching and instructional guidance necessary for the operation of the instructional program. 
  • Implements weekly observation cycles with feedback given within 24 hours of the observation through using the Kindezi rubric through Whetstone 
  • Utilizes the provided guidelines to provide actionable and measurable steps to teachers for driving student achievement
  • Supports the multi-tiered support system through observations and feedback
  • Provides real time feedback and models effective lesson planning, instructional and classroom management strategies.
  • Creates individualized coaching plans to grow teacher performance and student outcomes on their caseload
  • Collaborate with the Administrative team to support all teacher improvement
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the appropriate administrator outside of TKES

Lesson Planning Clinics & Data Analysis

  • Lead and monitor lesson planning clinics and data meetings in collaboration with Kindezi instructional vision
  • Develops own and teacher’s knowledge of best practices in instructional methods and teaches teachers how to match particular strategies to gaps in student mastery
  • Monitors students’ progress and arranges for academic interventions based on formative and summative assessments.
  • Implements, oversees, and analyzes assessment data to support student needs and teacher instruction
  • Facilitates weekly data analysis sessions to determine student misconceptions and plan for reteach for unmastered standards
  • Conducts analysis of formative and summative student data and recommends modifications to instruction.
  • Collaborates with the school leadership team while analyzing K-8 weekly common assessment data, I-Ready, MAP to inform teacher instruction and provide feedback to support continuous student achievement and data driven instruction 

Professional Development

  • Recommends to school leadership what school-wide professional development will be the highest leverage in improving student results; lead engaging, actionable, adult-learning workshops; and hold staff accountable for implementation of the workshop practices 
  • Facilities and ensures that PDs directly responds teacher needs according to student achievement, behavior data, and teacher observations
  • Plans PD where participants are actively engaged through discussion and collaboration and have multiple opportunities to practice in collaboration with Assistants Principals 
  • Uses methods that prompt all participants to remain actively engaged
  • Implements goals and the why of the session are explicit and are objectives are met
  • Demonstrates the capacity to develop and maintain a high functioning professional learning community 
  • Attends professional development provided by and recommended by content leaders and administrators

COMPENSATION/BENEFITS:

  • Compensation aligned with The Kindezi Schools’ Teacher salary schedule
  • Teacher Retirement System (TRS) pension, 403b plan, paid time off, vacation, health, vision, and dental insurance, employer-paid life insurance, and short and long-term disability benefits.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Be a United States citizen or otherwise have authorization to work in the United States
  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred 
  • Hold an active Level 4 or greater teacher certification issued by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission or have reciprocity eligibility
  • 5 years of teaching experience
  • Documented teacher leadership experience (i.e. leading and/or mentoring teachers, department chair lead, mentor teacher, instructional coaching, extracurricular sponsor, etc.)
  • Background in Science of Reading and researched-based practices preferred
  • Educational leadership certification/Teacher leadership endorsement a plus
