JOB TITLE:Specialist, Community Engagement & Marketing
DEPARTMENT: Communications
REPORTS TO:Public Information Officer
JOB FUNCTION: Apply knowledge and previous experience to assist in developing and executing successful marketing strategies and outreach initiatives as directed by the Public Information Officer
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES The job duties / essential functions of this position include, but are not limited to the following:
Community Engagement
  1. Plans and executes outreach programming to promote MATA initiatives and educational campaigns under minimal supervision.
  2. Establishes relationships with internal departments to facilitate various community outreach programs.
  3. Develops and delivers educational information about MATA services at neighborhood and public meetings and community events and/ or meetings.
  4. Evaluates the effectiveness of activities and provides feedback to the PIO/ Community Engagement Officer for continuous improvement.
  5. Develops collaborative relationships with stakeholders to develop and disseminate information on MATA initiatives, campaigns, promotional materials, opportunities for public comment and other agency deliverables.
  6. Writes and compiles summary reports of engagement events, assisting with data entry of department metrics and outcomes.
  7. Create quarterly plans for execution of community events.
  8. Collaborate with PIO and Recruiting Manager to plan and execute employee events.
  9. Back up PIO in checking public comments inbox and taking public comments during MATA’s board meetings.
Marketing
  1. Collaborate with PIO to develop and execute overall strategy and marketing campaigns / programs to increase reach for recruitment, brand perception and choice riders amongcommunities utilizing social media, advertising, traditional and non-traditional marketing media.
  2. Develop, implement, and manage comprehensive social media campaigns aimed at enhancing MATA’s awareness, credibility, and consideration among internal and external stakeholders.
  3. Stay on top of social media trends, translating findings into strategies and actionable plans to drive brand recognition and engagement, while enhancing customer experience and the effectiveness of demand generation efforts
  4. Act as a brand steward to ensure consistent representation of MATA’s brand presence onsocial media.
  5. Set, track, and report on channel/program goals, metrics, quantifiers, KPIs, and ROI across key social mediachannels.
  6. Collaborate with graphic designer for website development and updates.
  7.  Lead mass communication products, including but not limited to e-blasts, mass texts, application push notifications, etc.
  8. Perform other duties as assigned or as apparent.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education:Bachelor’s degree in public relations, public affairs, business or public administration, communications, marketing, or closely related field. Two to four (2-4) years of marketing or community engagement. Experience with graphic design, social media management and analytical tools.

  2. Regular and consistent attendance is required.
  3. Must always comply with safety and COVID protocols.
Environment:
  1. Extensive sitting is required while using office equipment such as computers, phones, printers, or fax machines.
  2. Some standing and walking during a normal workday will also be required as well as bending, stooping, kneeling, and crouching.
  3. Most work will be performed in inside working conditions but should be able to tolerate changes inbuilding environments such as with or without air conditioning or heating.
  4. May be required occasionally to move up to 20 pounds by lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling or otherwise repositioning objects.
  5. Fingering and repetitive motions will be required for data entry, while picking items up or while filing.
  6. Able to express or exchange ideas with others accurately and at an easily audible volume through the use of spoken words. Able to receive detailed information through oral communication or by phone at usual speaking levels and differentiate between sounds in the environment.
  7. Close visual acuity to perform detail-oriented activities as well as acuity to perform activities at or within arm’s reach with skill, control, and accuracy such as preparing and analyzing data, viewing a computer screen or for significant reading of documents and other materials.
