Job Purpose:

The Set-up Technician performs mold changes and troubleshoots alarms during production runs.

The Set-Up Technician performs the following:

• Monitors progress in production runs to help determine when molds are to be changed per production schedule changeover instructions.
• Removes and installs molds per specifications.
• Setup and organizes work cell equipment and peripheral equipment.
• Starts newly set jobs.
• Interfaces with QC and Shift Supervisor on the setup checklist/paperwork sign-off.
• Answers equipment alarms during production runs.
• Maintains clean, safe working conditions
• Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Educational Requirements and Years of Experience:

• High School Diploma or GED equivalence.
• 1-3 years’ experience in similar role. Experience in insert rotary table and horizontal insert injection molding equipment.
• Formal training in molding/plastics/manufacturing processes preferred.
• Formal training in Engel or comparable equipment preferred.
• Knowledge and experience working with quality system requirements such as ISO 9001 and IATF 16949.

Administrative, Technological and Behavioral Skills:

• Computer Literate - Understanding of the basic operation of a Personal Computer. Some experience with Microsoft Office Software (Outlook, Excel, Word, Access) or equivalent a plus.
• Planning and Organizations Skills – Ability to establish priorities, work independently and proceed with objectives with little supervision. Good attention to details. Ability to multi-task by handling several activities at the same time. Ability to keep records and work area in order.
• Positive team-member - Must be able to work in a team or independently. Ability to handle moderate amount of stress, while keeping a positive outlook and being respectful to co-workers. 
• Good communication skills – Able to communicate ideas clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing. Able to communicate to individuals at all levels of the organization.
• Good mechanical ability – Knowledge of mechanical systems and new computerized technologies as these affect control panels and robots used in automation. Proficient in the use of a variety of shop tools and instrumentation. Knowledge of mechanical concepts. Comprehension of energy sources – hydraulic, pneumatic, electric and others.
• Ability to work overtime when needed.

Other Requirements:

• Ability to lift/maneuver up to 400lbs with help of provided lifting equipment – this is required to remove/install molds into the presses.
• Ability to walk/stand 6-7 hours per day.
• Ability to sit (while making set-ups or machine adjustments) 1-2 hours per day.
• Ability to squat/bend repetitively (15 times an hour) while doing set-ups.
• Ability to push/pull up to 300 lbs.
• Ability to work in a temperature-controlled environment and noisy on occasion.
• Must follow safety rules and wear personal protective equipment.
