Job Purpose:

The Material Handler is responsible for organizing, replenishing and reporting of materials for the assembly area.

The Material Handler Performs the following:

• Organize all incoming material to the area. Keep all operations supplied with materials.
• Identify plastic resins based on manufacturers labels, or company supplied labels for reground resins.
• Identify what materials and inserts are needed at each machine.
• Take recyclable runners from machine, regrind them, and place with like materials in appropriately labeled containers.
• Prepare boxes and replenish all materials needed for final packaging.
• Set and audit all weigh scales at the start of each shift and initial the Weigh Scale Audit Form.
• Scan completed parts and other in-process inventory into computer system including sub-assemblies and reworked parts.
• Stage and organize materials and equipment needed to rework parts after verifying requirements with Lead Operator and QA.
• Sort and rework parts returned from our customers or quarantined from the assembly line.
• Performs basic housekeeping of the assembly area by maintaining the equipment, floors and stations clean. Empty garbage cans daily.
• Assist with resolution of inventory issues.
• Maintain clean, safe working conditions.
• Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Educational Requirements and Years of Experience:

• High School diploma or GED.
• General understanding of quality system requirements such as ISO 9001and IATF 16949 a plus.

Administrative, Technological and Behavioral Skills:

• Basic computer familiarity - Understanding of the operation of a Personal Computer and peripheral equipment. Experience with Microsoft Office Software (Outlook, Excel, Word, Access) or equivalent preferred.
• Planning and Organizations Skills – Ability to establish priorities, work independently and proceed with objectives with little supervision. Good attention to details. Ability to multi-task by handling several projects at the same time. Ability to organize the tasks of Assembly Operators to meet departmental goals.
• Good communication skills – Able to communicate ideas clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing
• Sense of urgency - Able to react appropriately to changing material demands.
• Can do attitude - Pleasant demeanor when interacting with individuals even on stressful situations.
• Ability to handle moderate to high stress due to the pressure of production deadlines.
• Ability to lift/push up to 50 lbs, occasionally. Must be able to work while standing, walking, and maneuvering around equipment 8 hours per day.
• Ability to work overtime and weekends as required.

Other Requirements:

• Ability to lift/maneuver material up to 200lbs with help.
• Ability to lift/push objects up to 50 lbs without help.
• Walk/Stand 6-8 hours per day.
• Ability to work in a loud and temperature-controlled environment.
• Must wear personal protective equipment.
