Position Details

POSITION TITLE : Human Resources Generalist Specialist Level IV

CLASSIFICATION : Administration / Non-Bargaining

DEPARTMENT : Human Resources

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT :

  • Administration / Non-Bargaining.
  • One (1) Full-time position, 260-day position.
  • Salary : $51,912 54,540
  • Competitive compensation package with salary commensurate with the education and experience of the candidate. A one-year contract with provisions for annual review and evaluation.

SUMMARY OF POSITION : Under the direction of the Executive Director and Director of Human Resources, this position will provide confidential and diverse support services for the SISD Preschool Program and local school districts to ensure efficient and accurate operations of the Human Resources Department.

The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for onboarding new employees, accurate data reporting using the district’s HRIS and payroll systems, and providing professional support services to local school districts per contractual agreement.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Exemplify high standards of customer service at all times.
  • Oversight of the new hire process, employee status change requests, contract adjustments, and termination paperwork for SISD Preschool employees and local school districts where human resources services are provided.
  • Responsible for personnel records management including the employee personnel file, medical files, and updating the Human Resource employee software systems.

Responsible for maintaining and managing the filing systems in a highly confidential manner.

  • Completes the annual employee management rollover process in the HRIS system on an annual basis, including the management of work calendars, increase processing, employment contracts, and collective bargaining agreement changes for assigned employee groups.
  • Responsible for ensuring that criminal records checks are initiated, clear and on file for all employees and volunteers.
  • Ensures that all employees have required health exams and certifications on an annual basis to meet agency requirements.

This includes scheduling staff for Health Risk Assessments with the district’s medical provider.

  • Monitors employee credentials for expiration and provides notification to districts and / or employees of their credential status as needed.
  • Work with district’s medical provider and Preschool managers to conduct random drug and alcohol testing.
  • Assists in the overall recruitment process, including preparing and posting vacancies, attending recruitment events, coordinating interviews, vacancy marketing, and other recruitment efforts.
  • Responsible to assist with the planning and coordination of all events in the Human Resources Department such as meetings, conferences, trainings, recognitions etc.,
  • Responsible for preparation, distribution, and maintenance of employee contracts for certified, non-bargaining, and administrative staff.
  • Responsible for Registry of Educational Personnel (REP) reporting as required by the Michigan Department of Education (MDE), for the SISD Preschool and applicable local school districts.
  • Able to prepare data from employee software system for reporting purposes, gather data as requested for the department, assemble material for use in preparation of reports, documents, and prepares correspondence.
  • Communicates with various departments’ employee status information.
  • Process mid-year and end of the year stipends based on collective bargaining agreements.
  • Provide support to other staff members as needed.
  • Performs other duties and special projects as required by the Executive Director and Director of Human Resources.

QUALIFICATIONS :

Bachelor’s degree in human resource management, business management, or related field required. Will consider equivalent experience / training and education in a related area.

Two (2) to three (3) years of executive office experience working in a multi-faceted and diverse organization. Experience working in a personnel or human resource department is preferred.

  • Must have the ability to manage numerous tasks, possess good organizational skills, and communicate effectively with co-workers and the public.
  • Must be able to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Must demonstrate a high degree of proficiency in use of business software programs, including Microsoft Office and Google platforms.

Must be able to learn and become proficient in the use of the District’s Finance and Human Resource Management computer software program.

  • Must demonstrate exemplary customer service skills, including courteousness, tact, and good verbal and written communication in all facets of the position.
  • Must have knowledge of and demonstrate confidentiality practices, maintain confidentiality of work, work product, etc. at all times.
  • Must have highly developed communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Must be highly organized; demonstrate initiative and be a self-starter in the completion of tasks, assignments and projects.
