The Mercadien Group is looking for a Senior Associate to become part of our growing compliance team. This role offers a flexible schedule with a hybrid remote work model and great work life balance. The Senior Associate should be able to perform a broad range of accounting tasks with experience in a paperless work environment. Strong project management skills with efficient task performance are key in this role. 

Responsibilities

• Documents understanding of internal controls on a timely basis
• Develops audit/compliance plan based on engagement parameters
• Monitors the productivity of staff and the work plan on every engagement
• Understands how the impact of changes in the economy, industry and business processes affect the planning process
• Gathers appropriate evidence to support report findings
• Identifies situations when deviation from/addition to planned procedures is appropriate
• Plans engagements effectively working with a Manager or Supervisor and working on Risk Assessments as needed
• Performs an effective engagement administration review
• Recognizes and documents appropriate matters for Partner attention
• Participates in industry related meetings or seminars
• Learns and appropriately uses industry specific terminology
• Functions without close supervision
• Asks for assignments that will support specialty development
• Participates in debriefing

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
• Must hold or be pursuing CPA license or other relevant credential
• Must possess above average computer skills, knowledge of Microsoft Office programs
• Must be able to communicate clearly both verbally and in written format. A strong command of the English language and grammar is necessary
• Must be available to work professional hours between 9am and 5pm, and additional hours as needed
