Must-Haves:

• Certified in Basic or Advanced Life Support
• One of the following certifications is required:
• Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) by Cardiovascular Credentialing International
• Registered Congenital Cardiac Sonographer (RCCS) by Cardiovascular Credentialing International
• Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) by American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS)
• Pediatric echo experience

Nice-To-Haves:

• Hospital experience strongly preferred

Job Description:

Schedule: FT Days and PT Days

As a Cardiac Sonographer with the Heart Center, you will collaborate with pediatric critical care medicine physicians and hospitalists from McGovern Medical School at UTHealth. This role involves providing twenty-four-hour, in-house, and on-call coverage to ensure the best care for patients with intensive care needs.

The Children’s Heart Institute, equipped with state-of-the-art techniques and services, aims to provide patients with the most complex problems the greatest opportunity for a normal life. The role includes innovative treatment methods, specialized services, and ongoing cardiac training and mentorship for the sonographer team.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Education: Graduate of an accredited school of Cardiac Sonography Technology, Radiologic Technology, or Sonography Technology (preferred).
• License/Certification:
• Certified in Basic or Advanced Life Support (required)
• One of the following (required):
• Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) by Cardiovascular Credentialing International
• Registered Congenital Cardiac Sonographer (RCCS) by Cardiovascular Credentialing International
• Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) by American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS)

Experience / Knowledge / Skills:

• Ability to lift and/or maneuver patients in conjunction with others for job functions
• Demonstrates commitment to the Partners-in-Caring process
• Excellent customer service skills

Principal Accountabilities:

• Performs echocardiogram tests on patients
• Enters and monitors patient data
• Performs quality assurance on equipment
• Identifies and reports accidents, complaints, or equipment malfunctions
• Participates in performance improvement activities
• Takes emergency call within the department
• Ensures safe care to patients, staff, and visitors
