Individual Giving Manager

Hours: Mon-Fri 8:30am-4:30pm

Meals on Wheels of Central Maryland, a premiere provider of aging services, seeks a mission driven professional for our rapidly growing organization. Meals on Wheels of Central Maryland, Inc. (MOWCM), is committed to providing nutritious home delivered meals, personal contact and support services to homebound, aging and disabled adults, but Meals on Wheels is more than a meal™. We offer a full continuum of nutrition, support and safety-net services that help sustain health, promote independence, maintain economic stability, and improve overall quality of life. By helping the aging and disabled remain living independently in their homes, Meals on Wheels supports their continued integration into the social fabric of the community, prevents premature institutionalization, reduces health care spending, and allows aging adults to remain in their home and communities with dignity.

  • High-level organizational skills, excellent writing skills and attention to detail, thoroughness, and willingness to learn.
  • Highly proficient computer skills, including demonstrated competencies in database management such as, Raiser’s Edge/Raiser’s Edge NXT, as well as Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point, and Adobe.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and proven professional customer service on the phone or in-person.
  • Ability to work independently, with the development team and collaboratively across all departments.
  • Ability to meet the demands of schedule and deadlines.
  • Ability to learn the latest information and skills quickly.
  • Ability to maintain confidential information in a professional manner.

Primary Responsibility and Duties

  • In collaboration with the VP, Individual Giving, ensures the success of MOWCM’s annual fund by writing appeals, segmenting donor lists, designing renewal and acquisition appeals, and formulating direct mail, acquisition, and digital strategies, while adhering to the annual calendar, and timeliness of solicitations.
  • Cultivates and stewards a portfolio of 200 – 250 individual, mid-level donors ($500 plus), including thank you and recognition strategies, to support donor retention and growth in size of donations and number of donors.
  • Supports all aspects of donor events, for major and mid-level donors, including planning, execution, and follow up.
  • Documents all engagements with donors in our CRM database, and tracks progress with each donor in our portfolio management system.
  • Completes proposals and/or pledge agreements for donors who make a multi-year gift as requested, tracks and distributes reminders for pledged gifts, and identifies individual strategies to follow up on unpaid pledges.

Secondary Duties

  • As member of the Development team, participates in developing and implementing team strategies to acquire new donors, retain and grow existing donors, increase online giving, establish personal fundraisers, and diversify and create new giving opportunities.
  • Collaborates with the marketing and communications department to create collateral material to promote giving opportunities and communicate the impact of a gift.
  • Continuously improve systems around donor stewardship, and act as back up to the Development Systems Specialist for data input in times of high gift volume.

Other Responsibilities and Duties

  • Represents and supports the Development team by attending annual fundraising events and participating in other team efforts.
  • Fosters an understanding of philanthropy within the organization.
  • Maintains a neat and organized work area so that others may easily access essential information.
  • Attends and fully participates in all staff meetings and other meetings as required/directed.
  • Supports the vision and mission of Meals on Wheels of Central Maryland which includes delivering meals to older adults when called upon.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Valid Maryland Driver’s license and access to reliable transportation.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, humanities, or related field and three years of fundraising experience.
  • High energy and passion for the mission of MOWCM.
  • Valid Maryland Driver’s license and access to reliable transportation.
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check and drug screening.
  • Experience in non-profits a plus.

Salary is $55,000. Meals on Wheels of Central Maryland, Inc. also offers a pleasant work environment with free parking and good benefits that include health insurance, dental and eye care, life insurance, short term disability insurance, HSA and Flexible Spending accounts, 401k with company match and discretionary contributions, mileage reimbursement, generous paid time off and flexibility with schedule.
