Meals on Wheels of Central Maryland, a premiere provider of aging services, seeks a mission driven professional for our growing organization. The pandemic has had a profound impact on aging adults, and MOWCM continues to actively respond and engage in equitable service to heal our community. Our mission to enable aging and disabled adults to live safely and independently at home throughout Central Maryland is more important now than ever.

Meals on Wheels of Central Maryland, Inc. (MOWCM), is committed to providing nutritious home delivered meals, personal contact and support services to homebound, aging and disabled adults. Meals on Wheels is more than a meal™ offering a full continuum of nutrition, support and safety-net services that help sustain health, promote independence, maintain economic stability, and improve overall quality of life. By helping the aging and disabled remain living independently in their homes, Meals on Wheels supports their continued integration into the social fabric of the community, prevents premature institutionalization, reduces health care spending and allows aging adults to remain in their home and communities with dignity.

Responsibilities:

• Support the Distribution Sites whenever help is needed.
• Deliver both Home Deliver Meals and Congregate Meals.
• Deliver Grocery to Go boxes.
• Support drivers with pulling and loading meals.
• Read packing slip and verifies accurate count of meals before leaving the Central kitchen.
• Load the van with bulk food and/or packaged food containers in an organized fashion.
• Deliver food to specified sites/locations per established route.
• Pick up and return empty food containers to main kitchen.
• Perform utility work, and maintenance in assigned vehicle as needed and directed by supervisor.
• Return van each and all assigned work tools to main office daily.
• Assist in taking and recording food temperatures as requested.
• Substitute for other routes in order to fill in where and as needed.

Qualifications:

• Clean driving record.
• High school diploma or equivalent certificate.
• One to two years of related experience.
• Must possess a valid Maryland driver’s license.
• Flexible to work shifts Monday to Friday.
• Able to be on call on your days off.
