Specific Responsibilities of the Job:

• Work closely with providers and staff to ensure timely billing and appeals processes.
• Claims follow-up on unpaid submissions in a timely manner
• Claim management and status tracking
• Knowledge of payer appeal and claim resubmission policies
• Knowledge and identification of denial reasons and codes
• Billing and Coding for multiple Integumentary and E/M services.
• Work within the EMR system to ensure charge capture and sequencing.
• Reviewing and interpreting documentation.
• Billing and Coding according to payer and facility guidelines.
• Following up on needed coding edits.
• Working with billing team to ensure proper billing and coding processes.
• Ability to handle workload or daily productivity.
• Responsible for providing coding support to the Billing Team.
• Performs all other related duties as assigned.

Skill Set:

• Experience in outpatient E/M and Procedural Coding (preferred)
• Current certification CPC, AHIMA etc. (preferred)
• Knowledge of CPT, HCPCS, and ICD-10-CM
• Knowledge of current coding guidelines
• Knowledge in LCD, NCD and NCCI edits
• Knowledge with different payers and policies e.g., Medicare, HMO, PPO, Medicare Advantage Plans etc.
• EMR experience (eClinical preferred)
• Knowledge of medical practice revenue processes.
• Denial management and coding edit processes.
• Ability to analyze documentation and assign appropriate codes.
• Ability to work independently with a high degree of attention to detail and reliable decision making.
• Strong analytical skills.
• High school diploma or GED

Experience:

• CPT, ICD-10, Coding/Billing Experience (Preferred)

License/Certification:

• CPC, AHIMA Certification (not required)
